DEVO

SUNDAY 26 NOVEMBER – ICC SUPER THEATRE, SYDNEY
WEDNESDAY 29 NOVEMBER – QPAC, BRISBANE
WEDNESDAY 6 DECEMBER – PALAIS THEATRE, MELBOURNE

American new wave legends DEVO will be performing their last-ever Australian appearances saying Goodbye to 50 years of De-Evolution. Recorded under the auspices of pioneering producer Brian Eno, 1978’s Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! was seen as a call to arms by some and became an underground hit. Others found DEVO’s sound, imagery, and material threatening.

The band broke through to the mainstream with 1980’s Freedom of Choice, which contained the platinum-selling hit single, Whip It, and represented a peak in their songwriting. The video became an MTV smash, juxtaposing the band’s low-budget futuristic look against a down-home farm setting and hints of S&M.

Albums, New Traditionalists and Oh NO It’s DEVO! continued their 1980’s decade world touring success accompanied by the hit songs, Beautiful World and That’s Good respectively. In1990 the band left the world of touring and recording to pursue film and TV projects.

Rising to an arena level status and receiving two Grammy Nominations — for Best Rock Album for Trauma and Best Metal Performance for their single, Bow Down, they are rising to the peak of the alternative music world and making major, undeniable waves beyond it and are kicking into a whole new gear.

After racking up over 100 million streams and receiving praise from Billboard, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, and more, THE PLOT IN YOU released their fifth album, Swan Song in 2021. Last year, the band’s 2018-released single FEEL NOTHING was officially certified Gold by the RIAA and the song is a digital success story that still streams over 2 million times and has enjoyed an exciting beyond-viral moment on TikTok. The track appears on the band’s album DISPOSE.

ENTER SHIKARI have played somewhere in the region of 3000 live shows around the globe, including three headline arena-sized tours in the UK, substantial UK / Europe arena supports with The Prodigy, Linking Park and 30 Seconds To Mars, and more big and small festivals than it would be possible to list fully in this space. 2023 kicked straight off with the announcement of their new album, and what became known as the Residency Tour, which took in five British cities over the course of one week, repeating for three months.

BEHEMOTH
FRIDAY 24 NOVEMBER – POWERSTATION, AUCKLAND
MONDAY 27 NOVEMBER – THE TRIFFID, BRISBANE
WEDNESDAY 29 NOVEMBER – THE GOV, ADELAIDE
TUESDAY 5 DECEMBER – MAX WATTS, MELBOURNE
In the annals of metal there is no band more synonymous with an unswerving commitment to the single-minded defiance of expectation than BEHEMOTH. Over the course of their remarkable 31-year career, these Polish hellraisers – spearheaded by Adam Darski, aka Nergal – are more than just the architects of their country’s legendary extreme metal scene. Over the course of three decades and previous 11 albums, Nergal’s singular vision has forged BEHEMOTH into something far more than a mere black metal band.

Beyond any confines of genre, they have grown to become nothing less than the personification of rebellion, individuality and unflinching self-expression informed by a literate worldview and worldliness that’s resulted in a locking of horns with everything from the mainstream press to the Polish Catholic church – most notably manifesting in Nergal’s trial for blasphemy in 2010 that only served to expose the deep-seated hypocrisies that his music seeks to challenge. It also highlighted the distinct lack of fucks that he has to give.

TUESDAY 28 NOVEMBER – THE GOV, ADELAIDE
WEDNESDAY 29 NOVEMBER – MAX WATTS, MELBOURNE

For nearly 40 years now, the Brazilian icons are not only a band revered worldwide; they have been, are and forever will be at the very forefront of Thrash Metal, trailblazing ever since they released their long-since legendary debut album Morbid Visions in 1986.

While quickly establishing themselves as leaders of the second wave of Thrash already in the late eighties, to this day they never came even close to stagnation. Now three albums deep into what may very well be their strongest incarnation yet, SEPULTURA are an unleashed power to be reckoned with, uniting bucketloads of experience and youthful vigour in a totally revived way.
