POND announce March National tour

Fresh from sell-out dates across a pair of North American tours and a slew of festival appearances, POND today reveal national dates in March.  Beginning in their hometown at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Sunday 3 March the psych rock five-piece will continue through to Brisbane’s The Triffid on Tuesday 5 March, Sydney’s Metro Theatreon Wednesday 6 March, and Melbourne’s The Croxton Bandroom on Thursday 7 March.

Their first local headline jaunt since 2017, POND will tour in support of their forthcoming album Tasmania, available Friday 1 March via Spinning Top Records | Caroline.  Following the Australian tour, the band will travel to Europe to perform festival sets at Primavera in Spain, OYA in Norway and We The Green in France.

New single Daisy opens the record with a mournful string section as if forewarning some bitter end, before the curtains come back on an alt-pop anthem that sees frontman Allbrook imagining his childhood friends and family in the Kimberley region.

Tasmania is POND’s dejected meditation on planetary discord, water, machismo, shame, blame and responsibility, love, blood and empire, all wrapped in luxurious, funky prog-pop, produced and mixed by? Kevin Parker and POND.   Featuring the aforementioned Daisy, recent single Sixteen Days and lead track Burnt Out Star, their eighth LP is some kind of sister missive to their 2017 opus The Weather.

POND possess an ever-expanding performance resumé, having toured with Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Flaming Lips. They stunned at premiere musical festivals around the world including Primavera, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, The Governors Ball, South by Southwest, St Jerome’s Laneway, Splendour In The Grassand more, and have sold out countless venues around the globe from New York’s Bowery Ballroom to Paris’ La Gaite Lyrique and London’s O2 Forum.

A polished set of organised chaos, POND deliver their sparkling psych-rock with enigmatic pop-chops, resulting in a widely loved live show.
