50 Songs in 5 Days Returns for it’s Fifth Year

by

50-songsWhat do you get when you bring together more than 75 of Australia’s best songwriters and producers, throw in a handful of accomplished international guests, and lock them away at Studios 301 in Sydney for five days? Over 50 songs that will be as juicy to your ears as a summertime mango is to your tastebuds.

From Monday 12 to Friday 16 December comes the fifth year of 50 Songs In 5 Days, a song-writing event founded and curated by Specific Music’s Leonie and Robert Conley in partnership with APRA AMCOS, and for the first time in 2016 under the banner of APRA AMCOS’ flagship SongHubs program.

50 Songs was born from a conversation with Robert Conley at the SongHubs sponsored Bali Songwriting Camp in 2010 and over the last five years has produced some amazing outcomes,” said Milly Petriella, APRA AMCOS Director of Member Relations.

“From that initial idea, APRA AMCOS went on to sponsor and then partner with Specific Music, and we are thrilled to now be able to bring the event into the SongHubs calendar of events. The opportunities these camps provide are priceless. In the last six months alone we have seen SongHubs releases from Guy Sebastian (Set In Stone, Candle), SAFIA (Over You), Tkay Maidza (Carry On) and Client Liaison (Off White Limousine). We are hugely proud to partner with Leonie and Robert to help fuel the next crop of Australian talent.”

50 Songs In 5 Days gives Australia’s up and coming artists and writers the chance to work with the country’s most celebrated writers, producers and artists. Previous participants have included Jessica Mauboy, Briggs, Trials, Thelma Plum, Alex Hope (Troye Sivan), Grammy Award winning producer, M-Phazes (Eminem, Illy), Louis Schoorl (Taylor Henderson, Daniel Johns), Jon Hume (Evermore, Matt Corby), Julian Hamilton (The Presets), Lisa Mitchell, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Joel Little (Lorde), Jarryd James, Tina Arena, Kate Miller-Heidke, Morgan Evans and The McClymonts… to name just a few.

Original’s critically acclaimed debut album, Reclaim Australia and Something That I Said from hot, up and coming South Australian artist, Timberwolf.

50 Songs In 5 Days is the perfect party to cap off a big year of music, and it will also be the last event held at Studios 301 historical site in Alexandria. After 90 years they are moving out and we will be sending them off with a bang!

“Throughout the last 90 years the 301 team has played a major part in many of the iconic releases in the Australian music industry. We’re proud to host and partner with the ’50 Songs’ initiative to continue our investment into the Australian music community and future artists, songwriters and producers”

ABOUT 50 SONGS IN 5 DAYS:

Now in its 5th year and with a focus on the artists writing songs for their own releases, ’50 Songs In 5 Days’ is Australia’s largest song-writing event which has also become a breeding ground for new artists and songwriters to be discovered by the industry. Artists and writers who were unknowns when they took part in the camp have included Jarryd James, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Paige IV and Lorde’s co-writer and producer, Joel Little. It is an event where an unknown artist has the rare opportunity to get into the room with an award winning, platinum selling writer and producer to create some magic. ’50 Songs In 5 Days’ is also an event that was founded to bring the song-writing community closer together and to foster new friendships and creative relationships.
