Steve Stevens live in clinic and conversation – Australia!

by

Steve Stevens is one of the most gifted and original guitarists to emerge from the 80s music scene.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Stevens first picked up the guitar at age seven. Immersing himself in the great early 70s Brit guitar heroes like Beck, Page and Clapton, Steve would eventually became an avid prog rock fan. Post his graduation from the highly prestigious LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Stevens hooked up with Generation X singer Billy Idol. Idol and Stevens released the smash hit albums Billy Idol, Rebel Yell and Whiplash Smile. Stevens co-wrote the hits ‘Rebel Yell,’ ‘Eyes without a Face’ and ‘Flesh for Fantasy.’

As an in-demand hired gun, Stevens has played on recordings by Michael Jackson (‘Dirty Diana’) and Robert Palmer (‘Don’t Explain’). His guitar wizardry featured on the mega-selling 1986 soundtrack to the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun, which earned Steve a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for ‘Top Gun Anthem.’ You can also hear Stevens rip it up on the Once Upon a Time in Mexico and The Matrix trilogy soundtracks.

Steve launched his solo career with his band Atomic Playboys and recorded the flamenco inspired Flamenco A Go-Go, the prog-rock influenced Memory Crash and collaborated with bassist Tony Levin and drummer Terry Bozzio to release several critically acclaimed albums. He has taken the reality show plunge, alongside his charismatic wife Josie, on the E! channel’s hit show Married to Rock which aired in 120 countries around the world and let viewers in on what Steven’s life is like beyond the music and touring.

Steve recently embarked on a successful tour with the Rock N Roll All-Stars, performing with Gene Simmons, Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan, Ed Roland, Joe Elliott, Mike Inez, Sebastian Bach, Billy Duffy, Glenn Hughes and Gilby Clarke to sold-out stadiums across South America. He’s also a frequent guest with popular all-star band Camp Freddy and is writing music for a new solo album slated for 2013.

Stevens’ inventive guitar work and outrageous glam rock image is legendary. Do not miss, for the first time in Australia, the incomparable and enigmatic Steve Stevens!
