The Smith Street band announce ‘Young Drunks’ tour

by

“A two minute walk from the street they take their name from, you get the feeling that the band has outgrown Collingwood and perhaps even Melbourne” – Inpress(September 2012)
Melbourne’s THE SMITH STREET BAND won a lot of hearts this year with much-loved sophomore album ‘Sunshine & Technology’ and some seriously extensive touring. Next, they’ll celebrate summer with buddies BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY (USA) and Melbourne bros THE BENNIES by visiting a whole bunch of fun new places, as well as some familiar favourites, throughout February and March as part of the enormous ‘Young Drunks Tour’.
The Smith Street Band hit 2012 on the head, completing a mostly sold out album launch tour, venturing overseas for the first time (playing 6 weeks of shows through China and the USA), earning rave reviews for the album as well as their raucous live shows. Now they’re hungry to visit outta town places like Warrnambool, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour. As always, the band has carefully crafted line-ups, sure to deliver truly fun and memorable shows. They are also renowned for adding house shows and in-stores wherever possible along the way, so keep an eye out for that stuff! The lovely Wil Wagner will catch up with triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud this Wed Dec 05 to tell you about all of this exciting stuff. For now, please listen to the entire first album and some gems for the second right HERE.
Bomb the Music Industry (USA) are the adored punk/folk/ska/party collective fronted by insatiable bandleader Jeff Rosenstock. They’ve been at it for 8 years, doing it ALL themselves. Jeff toured Australia on his lonesome in early 2012, now he’s rallied the full band together and they’re bound for Aus for what will be their LAST TOUR EVER. There’ll be no excuse for not knowing the words; Bomb’s glorious back catalogue is free for all HERE. BTMI live is a 100% fun, 100% sweaty, 100% once in a lifetime experience.
The Bennies are balls out, ridiculous, amazing; punky delayed vocals, face-melting leads and bouncing bass lines. Punk/ska for a new era. The Melbourne dudes have played over 300 shows in three years, hitting Japan twice and releasing debut album ‘Party, Party, Party’ to awesome remarks like “The Bennies may have written the soundtrack to the best party you’ve ever been to!” (Chucking a Mosh). And party they will. Insane Japan tour video right HERE, you get the idea…
All of these bands share an unwavering dedication to playing as much as possible, and have a rep for being the nicest guys ever. Come say hi and watch a show that’ll make you feel awesome. Tix on sale Thu Dec 06!

Supported by triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud, Bombshellzine and Poison City…
