 ALABAMA SHAKES
We think they’re the most exciting band of 2012 and ALABAMA SHAKES make their Australian debut at BIG DAY OUT 2013. Frontwoman Brittany Howard’s soul-drenched howl falls somewhere between Howlin’ Wolf and Janis Joplin, making for an electrifying live show.

CRYSTAL CASTLES
It’s impossible to be not in love with the fiercely uncompromising CRYSTAL CASTLES. From their inception they have created a stir with shows that enthrall and excite an impassioned cult following. This year heralds the arrival of their third album with its first single Plague described as “dangerous, demented and utterly thrilling” by NME.

PRETTY LIGHTS
PRETTY LIGHTS bring the dancefloor direct from the Big Day Out’s Boiler Room. The musical vision of the ultra-versatile Colorado based producer Derek Vincent Smith, Pretty Lights is moving the dub step massive deeper with cutting electro and organic sounds and serious party rocking beats. Described by Clash Magazine (UK) as a sound “full of chopped-up samples (both vintage and fresh) and deliciously big synth riffs layered over a solid-as-you-like hip hop backbone”, Pretty Lights has caught the zeitgeist, giving away more than 2.6 million free album downloads to date.
