Hoodlum Shouts announce debut album and East Coast Tour

by

Hoodlum Shouts deliver their first full-length dose of brooding sing-alongs with the debut album Young Man Old Man set for joint release on Poison City and HelloSquare Recordings on March 28.

Recorded by Matt Voigt (The Dirty Three, Midnight Oil, The Nation Blue), Canberra’s Hoodlum Shouts continue down the path of bold simplicity and lush melodies, while balancing the needle somewhere between melancholy and uplifting. Musically Young Man Old Man is a progression from their 2009 Horses and Human Hands EP, expanding the possibilities of modern Australian alt-country rock, while lyrically exploring the age-old themes of history, our past and present and the uncomfortable realisation that some things never change.

“Take The Nation Blue and The Drones, put them together and you get Hoodlum Shouts; punk rock fuelled by the same kind of colonial fervor of those aforementioned bands. Superb stuff!”- Dom Alessio, Triple j

“The band summon the tense ghosts of Midnight Oil and The Dead Kennedys as much as evoke more recent locals like The Nation Blue, The Drones and curiously -but with great affect- early Art Of Fighting.” The Vine.com.au
