So-Cal alternative rockers The Dirty Heads have announced their long-awaited new album, Cabin By The Sea, which will be globally released on Five Seven Music on June 19th. The album, produced by Mario C., was recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas and features collaborations with Matisyahu, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ky-Mani Marley and Rome. Cabin, the follow up to 2008’s Any Port In A Storm showcases the band’s signature rock/reggae/hip-hop sound that that is synonymous with its good vibes. Sonically, the tracks range from the feel good reggae tune, aptly entitled “Your Love,” to the bright and upbeat acoustic pop of the title track, to the easy grooves of the first single, “Spread Too Thin.” Legendary L.A. alternative rock station and longtime supporter of The Dirty Heads, KROQ, premiered “Spread Too Thin” on March 9th and shortly added the track into rotation. “This album has consumed every waking minute of my life, it’s all I think about. We found our sound as a band over the last album and past tours and countless shows and Cabin by the Sea is a product of that. We wanted to write an album that can take you to a different place or a different state of mind away from everyday life,” said Jared “Dirty J” Watson.
The Dirty Heads have shared stages with the likes of 311, Matisyahu, O.A.R and Sublime with Rome, among others. Their most recent live appearance was at last week’s SXSW, where the band performed as the secret headliner on Saturday for Vizio Presents SXSW Wahoo’s Fish Taco 4 Nights of Music. The band is set for a run of radio and college dates this spring and will be shortly announcing dates for this summer and fall. Look for tour dates to be announced soon at www.thedirtyheads.com.
Formed in 2003 out of Huntington Beach, CA, The Dirty Heads combine an intriguing mix of hip-hop, reggae and alternative rock with a sunny California swagger. The band released their debut album, Any Port In A Storm in September of 2008, which features the hit track “Lay Me Down,” a song that spent eleven weeks at #1 on the Billboard alternative chart, more than any single that year by any other artist. It is a certified gold single. Rolling Stone touted the ‘Heads as one of the year’s best new bands and they were among the first bands featured on YouTube’s Raw Session.
