Hevenshe draws us into a world of primal longing with the new track ‘I Wish I Had A Friend’

by

The nostalgic anthem debuted at headline performances around Sydney at Kelly’s On King, Pleasure Club and The Duke of Enmore in late 2024. Next, Hevenshe will be performing ‘Wish I Had a Friend’ at The Tivoli, The Enmore and The Forum theatres following its release this January, with You Me At Six and Holding Absence.

‘Wish I Had a Friend’ is a commentary on “the illusion of loneliness” explains Hevenshe. “It’s inspired by the distorted reality we experience when we’re depressed and a modern society that encourages such isolation.” ‘Wish I Had a Friend’ hints at the grunge inections ahead in Hevenshe’s arsenal. Channeling Filter and Third Eye Blind in a way that only a child of the 90’s can, with a blend of gritty, unrelenting guitars and celestial atmosphere. In an unlikely blend of inuences, melodies inspired by Sigur Ros and Avril Lavigne traverse themes of self-neglect and divine intervention.

The independent Sydney artist [40K monthly listeners] maintains her intention to inspire, uplift, and provide a cathartic soundtrack to her listener’s lives. “Wish I Had a Friend is a reminder that our yearning for connection is in fact a wise and necessary survival instinct to ensure we don’t try to brave this life alone. It’s my hope that the song will lend strength to those struggling to reach out for support.”

‘Wish I Had a Friend’ is the 2nd single from Hevenshe’s new era [following 2024’s rock bop: Essential], collaborated on by members of Melbourne’s Slowly Slowly (Benjamin Stewart: cowriter, producer and Alex Quayle: mix engineer)
