Hard work and raw emotion are a given, but it’s Vesely’s undeniable talent as a songwriter, vocalist and performer, paired with an unrelenting connection to his fans, that sets him far above. In the 20 years since releasing the debut album, Awake, Secondhand Serenade has become a cornerstone of the emo-pop movement. Vesely’s soul-baring anthems strike at the heart and are the soundtrack and voice to many of the MySpace generation.
We caught up with John to talk about the return of Secondhand Serenade to Australia for these special symphony shows, memories of releasing ‘Awake’, new music, working with Butch Walker, who was in his MySpace Top 8, and so much more…
