Rock icons The Living End have announced details of their first album in eight years ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ (September 26, BMG) – eleven new songs that make up their leanest, fiercest, most locked-and-loaded statement to date, highlighted with today’s release of the title track. To ring in this momentous occasion, the punk rock trio are going do what they do best and tear it up live around the country!

The Living End were faced with the conundrum when recording ‘I Only Love Rock n Roll’ of how to tap into the naïve fire and fury of their youth, when they’ve already got a 25-year legacy behind them.
But with Chris Cheney living in the US during the time of the George Floyd murder, the riots and the pandemic they didn’t have to look far to draw inspiration. For a band often defined by its musical muscle, The Living End have never been short on opinions and on ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ they make that known.
The song ‘Roller’ came first while recently released single ‘Strange Place’ hit the band’s sweet spot in the same vein of long-standing hit ‘Prisoner of Society’, and first single ‘Alfie’ became the album’s hard-slamming opening track.
Sonically, “we were very clear,” Cheney says: “We did not want to make a big, over-the-top record with a hundred parts. We’ve made those records. This one had to sound like a slick machine. Trim the fat. Yeah, there are those harmonies and extra guitar bits. But a big part of the writing was knowing what a song didn’t need.”
Next stop, the stage. “The best gigs are when we come off completely rooted. We leave nothing behind,” Strachan says. Owen agrees. “We’ve been through a lot together, and we’ve learned when to get out of each other’s way. At the end of the day, it’s about three guys, plugged in, going for it. No tricks. Songs that hit hard and mean something.”
On this tour The Living End will blast through two huge sets every night: the first set will see them rip through select tracks from the new ‘I Only Trust Rock n Roll’ album, plus play the full swag of hits that have made them household names over the last three decades – ‘White Noise’, ‘Roll On’, ‘Who’s Gonna Save Us’ and more.
The second set will take fans back to where it all started with the band playing their iconic, multi-platinum self-titled debut album in FULL – ‘All Torn Down’, ‘Second Solution’, ‘Prisoner of Society’ alongside every other album track. What more could a TLE fan ask for? It’s a concert experience that truly spans the full history of the band.
As a special bonus, fans who pre-order the album will be emailed with access to the tour pre-sale.
