Garrett Nickelsen of The Maine (Video Interview)

by

“It’s a cool experience to go back in the old catalogue and be like this song is not how I remember us doing it…”

From Release: Hailing from Tempe, Arizona The Maine has matured both personally and sonically from their inception – now sixteen years ago – without compromising their integrity or losing their sincerity along the way. The Maine’s ability to continuously flex their creativity and make dynamic records while maintaining their DIY mindset and keeping their authenticity has not gone unnoticed. Over the course of their career, the band has toured and performed at festivals worldwide, including Australia’s Soundwave Festival in 2011, as well as headlining their own sold out festival in their hometown.

The Maine’s ninth studio album is their first self-titled record, and released last year on August 1. The album follows 2022’s single Loved You A Little which broke into the Top 5 on the alt radio charts. The band celebrated the album release with an extensive headlining run across the US known as their Sweet Sixteen Tour where they perform songs from across their expansive catalog.

We caught up with Garrett from The Maine to talk about the bands return to Australia, their Sweet Sixteenth set lists, looking back at their debut album, new music, and so much more…
