Freshly minted as a three piece, Brisbane music scene stalwarts and purveyors of party punk rock The Strums are back with a brand new hip shaking single titled Baby I’m An Adolescent. To celebrate its release the dudes will be playing a very sweaty intimate show at The Underdog’s The Dungeon in Brisbane on Saturday 11 April and a series of dates in May.
Bursting with energy, Baby I’m An Adolescent is 2 minutes and 19 seconds of pure punk rock party screaming at your face telling you to let your hair down and give the middle finger to anything making your life dull and boring. The track was written and produced by the three piece – Jai Sparks (vocals/guitar), Enrico Lee (bass) and Dan Topp (drums), mixed by Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs) and mastered by the legendary Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, The Arctic Monkeys).
Sparks hails from a long line of self-confessed adolescent adults young in spirit. For the single artwork, his grandparents Gwen and Merv jumped at the opportunity to recreate a long lost photo. The photo features Merv, with a black eye and Gwen sheepishly pretending she’s the cause. Merv went so far as to decorate his eye with boot polish to make it more ‘authentic’.
