Lennard Promotions regrettably announces today the cancellation of the Rick Springfield October 2014 Australian tour.
On advice from Rick Springfield’s management, Rick has secured a co-starring role in the movie “Ricki And The Flash” alongside Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline.
Production begins in New York in mid September with Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme (“The Silence Of The Lambs”). The movie’s script was written by another Oscar winner, Diablo Cody (“Juno”). Meryl Streep has received 18 Academy Awards nominations and three awards. She has also won two Australian Film Institute awards.
“Sorry to all my Aussie fans,” writes Springfield. “ I was so looking forward to playing for you for the first time in 30 years. I promise to make it up to you next year. In the meantime, this movie is a great opportunity. It’s not every day that Meryl Streep and Jonathan Demme come calling.”
Fans should keep an eye out for the possibility of a 2015 tour being announced in due course.
All tickets will be refunded in full and ticket holders should go to their place of purchase for the refund.
