Folks, highlight Friday September 20 in your diaries. Liberation Music are pleased to confirm September 20 as the release date for Adalita’s second solo album, All Day Venus.
Recorded with renowned producer Lindsay Gravina at Birdland Studios in Melbourne, All Day Venus is the follow up to Adalita’s acclaimed self-titled LP. Borne from periods of intense creativity and personal reflection, the twelve songs on the album are dark, brooding and unflinchingly honest, bursting with energy and physicality. This is an album aimed equally at the head, heart, hips and feet.
The first glimpse of the new LP was revealed at the beginning of July, with the release of the title track. With its eloquent and insightful lyrics and exhilarating, reverb-soaked guitars, ‘All Day Venus’ proclaimed the return of one of our most lauded and loved local artists.
Now, Adalita reveals the first official single from the album, ‘Warm Like You’. Forged from a heavy, detuned guitar progression, ‘Warm Like You’ is loud, powerful and dynamic, with an almost orchestral swoon underpinning the track’s driving glam stomp.
Adalita is elated at the prospect of sharing new music with her fans. “I cannot tell you all how super excited I am about this new album. It’s been two years in the making and an enormous amount of energy has gone into it.”
“This record is really about so many things but mainly I think it’s about growing up. I think I came to a point as an adult where I realised a lot of new things about myself mainly through the transformative nature of romantic love gone wrong. In tandem with this theme I was also very drawn to beautiful images of the female form, flowers, fountains and waterways presided over by a female figure, sometimes young and innocent, sometimes a dark, powerful huntress. For me this relates to the mystery of the feminine and the sacred nature of beauty.” Our All Day Venus.
Two years ago, Adalita blew us away with the release of her self-titled solo debut. A stripped back, stark and emotive affair, it exceeded already high expectations and won Adalita the coveted AIR Award that year for Best Independent Album.
All Day Venus is sure to impress similarly. It will be released on September 20.
