Mark July 23 in your diaries. Following their recent signing to Liberation Music, Melbourne’s British India will unveil their new single I Can Make You Love Mstarting with a premiere on triple j on Sunday night.

Expanding on their signature sound, I Can Make You Love Me builds deftly from a simmering        post-punk confessional into a blistering rock furnace. Replete with arresting guitar riffs, frenetic drumming and an outstanding vocal performance, the track offers a bold first taste of the band’s fourth LP – their most assured and accomplished offering to date.

British India is Declan Melia – vocals & guitar, Nic Wilson – lead guitar, Will Drummond – bass and Matt O’Gorman – drums.

Bursting onto Melbourne’s independent scene in 2006 the school friends quickly created a buzz for performing explosive live punk shows. Their debut long-player Guillotine, released in 2007 spawned the hits Black & White Radio, Tie Up My Hands and Run The Red Light. The album won British India the AIR Award for Best New Independent Artist.

The band’s subsequent albums enjoyed even greater success. I Said I’m Sorry heralded the arrival of Thieves in 2008, which claimed the #5 spot on the ARIA Album chart, and secured them an ARIA nomination for ‘Best Independent Release’.

2010 saw the release of Avalanche, another Top 10 ARIA debut. The Age praised the release, stating that the album ‘affirm(ed) British India’s position as one of the most solid rock bands in the country. It featured radio favourites Vanilla, Beneath The Satellites and the title track, Avalanche.

Their new single I Can Make You Love Me is a clear indication that British India’s fourth album is destined for equally heady heights.

Stay tuned for some exciting touring news soon.
