Ladies and gentlemen, meet Rival Sons. Raucous, blues-infused, legit. Meet, the hard rock band from California who have been decimating international markets with the rhythm and star quality of some of the greatest rock acts of all time.
Hailed as “The unlikely saviours of American Rock” (Classic Rock) the Rival Sons quartet was brought together by a love of music, but also, in their own words, they “want to give the people the rock and roll they deserve by keeping it honest, visceral, and dangerous”.
From the first moment the band got together there has been a special artistic chemistry, landing them opening slots with legends like AC/DC and ALICE COOPER. While supporting their debut release, Rival Sons scored coveted slots on the European festival circuit before joining JUDAS PRIEST as main support for their extensive UK tour.
The Huffington Post dubbed Rival Sons as “one of the top 5 bands to watch” at CMJ Music Marathon in NYC at the end of 2010 and after that performance the band signed a deal with Earache Records. “There was just the right amount of audacity and bending of the rules for us to dig the idea of being on a [traditionally] death metal label.” says guitarist, Scott Holiday.
Pressure & Time was recorded in just 20 days ensuring a rawness for both the listener and band. The band committed themselves to creating an experience that closely matched the attitude and excitement of one of their live performances. The album was released in the UK, Europe and US in winter 2011 to stunning reviews and critical acclaim.
Groove, soul, swagger and danger are the ethos by which the Rival Sons live and breathe. They claim to have sworn an oath to keep the process and their performance to nothing less than honest. Their music sums up a time when ROCK made more than a “viral buzz”. Rival Sons harken back to when the thrill of rock and roll truly made a difference….And that time has been resurrected.
“Rival Sons are classic rock incarnate” – The Daily Telegraph, UK
