SOEN, Featuring Former Members Of OPETH & TESTAMENT, To Release Debut Album Cognitive on March 16

SOEN – the new four-strong ensemble featuring Swedish drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth, Amon Amarth), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Testament, Death, Iced Earth), Stockholm-born vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree), and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis- have inked a deal with Spinefarm Records.

Originally formed by Lopez and Platbarzdis back in 2005, the project was initially put on ice, only to be resumed with the arrival of Ekelöf in early 2010. Later that year, DiGiorgio was recruited, finally completing the veritable all-star lineup.

On their debut album, Soen paint their musical canvas with broad strokes. Overseen by Grammy Award-winning Canadian producer Dave Bottrill, who has previously worked with Tool, Smashing Pumpkins and Muse, Cognitive is set for Australian release on March 16^th 2012.

Rhythmic & experimental, this 10-track affair has been described by Lopez as “melodic, heavy, intricate and very different to everyone else”.
