Born out of a desire to create, and proudly influenced by, 80’s glam metal, Sandness from Italy are a band of young hard rockers that you need to keep in your sights. Having released their 2nd demo Life Without Control in May 2011, the band are set to capitalise on the interest shown in them thus far and will be hitting the studio in December. They have supported the likes of L.A Guns and Adam Bomb in Italy and the best of Sandness is well and truly still to be heard and seen. Stay tuned, as you will be hearing more about these guys in 2012…

Let’s start with the basics first, in your own words, how would you describe the music of Sandness?
We think that our music is a mix of madness, love, wild life & passion for crazy parties hehehe!
Can you introduce each member of the band and give us a rock ‘n’ roll fact or myth about each?
Sure! now we’ll introduce you these fuckin’ bastards!
-Federico Spina: he was the lead singer and lead guitar player of Jump, another Hard Rock band here in Trentino, and we contacted him one year ago and he came to play with us, he’s a crazy guy and he likes red wine!
-Metyou Moonless: he is the drummer, he plays guitar as well as he plays the drums, and with Mark is the co-founder of SANDNESS.. he is a mad man cuz he drives always drunk and the police haven’t caught him yet….
-Mark Denkley: he is the bass player and the lead singer and his dream is to play all over the world with SANDNESS and to drink so many alcoholic drinks as possible!!
-Robby Lucketz: he is the rhythmic guitar player of the band and he loves to create new cocktails mixing all the things he can find hehehehe
You have twenty seconds in an elevator to try and convince someone to listen to your music, what do you tell them?
Haha we don’t need 20 seconds… we only need a long rope so we can tie and convince them with all the time that we need!
In terms of your song writing, what do you consider to be the most important ingredients that need to feature in one of your songs?
Obviously the inspiration and the desire to create something new without copying the rock n’roll masters!
You have already released 2 EP’s, your latest being “Life Without Control” and you are currently starting work on your first album. Musically, can we expect the songs on your album to be in a similar style to your EP? When are you hoping to release your album?
Sure, but the quality will be perfect and professional cuz we’ll record it in a professional studio and we’ll spend a lot of money, so we will put on it some Life Without Control tracks and 6/7 new songs plus an intro, and the sound will be a little bit harder!! The songs are ready and we’re so excited! We hope to finish it by the beginning of April and we hope to find a great label that helps us to grow and release the album by the beginning of the summer.
What or who inspires and influences your music the most, in both a lyrical and musical sense?
The sound is inspired by the great bands of the 80’s like Motley Crue, Cinderella and more… the lyrics tell about our life, fun, our feelings, basically all of our life experiences.
What kind of movie do you think your music would be best suited to and why?
Maybe a porn film hehehe No, we’re joking! To be honest we don’t know, but it would be a very strange film!
So, having gone through the process of writing and recording two EP’s, as well as playing a bunch of live shows, I have to ask, what has been the most rewarding aspect of being in Sandness so far?
The desire to walk this way and become someone in the music history with our music and our passion… also answering this interview is important and it helps us to realize our dream. Thanks!
You have already had a couple of big name supports with L.A Guns and Adam Bomb, how were both of those experiences?
Both gigs have been great experiences! To be honest we haven’t talked a lot with Adam but he is a great musician, even if he’s underrated. However it was a great experience. When we played before L.A.Guns, we had the opportunity to speak with them (expecially with Tracii and the drummer and they‘re so crazy! ) we gave the Life Without Control CD to Tracii and he enjoyed it and told us that we are good, after that, he played Robby’s pink guitar hehehe.
For those reading this in galaxies far, far away, what do you have to say about the Italian rock music scene at the moment?
Yeah, there are a lot of great bands that write original tracks but unfortunately, in Italy most of the people prefer cover bands and it’s very sad..
Here’s a chance to gaze into your crystal ball. In the next 6 months Sandness will have:
1. We hope to sign with a great label that can promote us!
2. We hope to release our album all over the world and organize a European/ World tour
3. We hope to speak English more fluently hahahaha
