\"\"<\/a>In 25 words or less: \u2018Invisible Stars\u2019 is a welcome return after six years for Everclear and to a sound you instantly know that has been updated to suit today.<\/p>\n

Remember this one\u2026 \u201cWe can live beside the ocean, leave the fire behind.\u00a0 Swim out past the breakers, watch the world die\u2026\u201d We first heard Everclear back in 1995 with this, their trademark song \u2018Santa Monica\u2019 now over fifteen years on, sure most of us still know them for that, but with what I\u2019m listening to now, and what you should too in my opinion we will soon know them for more than just that one hit.<\/p>\n

Within seconds, in fact second, if you already know this band, you instantly know this is an Everclear album, that trademark voice of Art Alexakis starts off the album and \u2018Tiger In A Burning Tree\u2019, the opening track of Everclear\u2019s first album in six years \u2018Invisible Stars\u2019 and it\u2019s a more than welcome return. \u2018Falling In a Good Way\u2019 and its instant hook is a sign that the opener wasn\u2019t a fluke and we\u2019re in for some great tunes.\u00a0 First single \u2018Be Careful What You Ask For\u2019 is a perfect choice for just that, it\u2019s a toe tapping, shoulder shaking catchy track that should be all over the radio, will it be?\u00a0 Probably not and that\u2019s a shame, but a great title.\u00a0 \u2018Volcano\u2019 is a stand out and an easy choice for next single, well in my opinion.\u00a0 Continuing on with tracks like the punchy \u2018Santa Ana Wind\u2019 with a chorus and groove that makes you not only want to point in the air for no reason but to sing along instantly, it certainly has an infectiousness to it that\u2019s for sure.\u00a0 In \u2018Wishing\u2019 a beautifully written and melodically perfect track with lyrics such as \u2018I don\u2019t know how to be alone\u2026\u2019 delivered with the passion they were written with make them believable.<\/p>\n

The melodic side of Everclear is running rampant on \u2018Invisible Stars\u2019 and it\u2019s so welcoming.\u00a0 This is quickly developing in to an album that will be on high rotation and that\u2019s always a good feeling when an album by an established band comes along, especially when it\u2019s been so long between drinks, you can at times be dubious of these 90\u2019s bands still making music, but alas, nothing to worry about here.\u00a0 \u2018I Am Better Without You\u2019 could\u2019ve come straight off \u2018Sparkle And Fade\u2019 in 1995, not that it sounds dated, more the point of this is a classic Everclear style song.\u00a0 Even the songs that aren\u2019t as strong as others are balanced, songs like \u2018Jackie Robinson\u2019 and \u2018Rocket For The Girl\u2019 weren\u2019t really favourites of mine but on this album, but in saying that, there wasn\u2019t a song I didn\u2019t like, just ones that I didn\u2019t like as much as others, that\u2019s rare these days.\u00a0 The album rounds out with \u2018Promenade\u2019 which is a huge track, big guitars, big \u2018Na Na Na\u2019 sing along, it\u2019s just big which is kudos to the great production on not only this song, but the album as a whole.<\/p>\n

I for one have missed Everclear\u2019s sound, these types of songs, the vibe is there and the sound has evolved that suits these songs down to a tea.\u00a0 The addition of that synthesiser style sound, takes me back at times to a band like The Cars and is a perfect throwback to that style but with a newness injected in to it.\u00a0 In my mind Art has always been somewhat of a musical genius, his lyrics are well written and delivered and melody wise the songs are just right.\u00a0 This is a great and as I said before, welcome return to Everclear and I for one will be flying the flag for this album to get it heard.<\/p>\n
