\"\"<\/a>In 25 words or less:\u00a0 \u2018The Brightest Light\u2019 is fresh, it\u2019s new, it\u2019s diverse, it\u2019s rockin\u2019 and King Cannons may just be your new favourite band.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been excited about this pending release from the second I heard \u2018Take The Rock\u2019 from King Cannons\u2019 debut EP back in 2010\u2026 yeah, that long I personally have been waiting for this debut album and now it\u2019s finally here and I couldn\u2019t be happier if I was twins!<\/p>\n

\u2018Stand Right Up\u2019 is a song that has been around for a little while so it is the most well-known of the album and one of the best, it\u2019s a great start to the album and gives you an idea of what you\u2019re in for, this is a classic rock style sounding album that was recorded live and you can most definitely feel that coming through in the songs.\u00a0 Newest single \u2018Too Young\u2019 is a stand out for sure and gives you that heart that King Cannons put into their music, but it\u2019s title track \u2018The Brightest Light\u2019 that takes the cake for me, this is in my opinion the best song that Bruce Springsteen never wrote, it has that prefect feel for a song with its smooth verses and blaring chorus, it delivers both musically and lyrically, and with a harmonica solo in it, well, you just can\u2019t go wrong.\u00a0 This is one I can\u2019t wait to see played live, I can imagine it will be a winner.<\/p>\n

\u2018Too Hot To Handle\u2019 is a perfect sing along rocker complete with perfect clap along section, \u2018Call For Help\u2019 is so well produced (thanks to Shihad\u2019s Tom Larkin at the helm), musically there are so many elements in here and the percussion is pristine, taking this song to what it needs to be.\u00a0 It\u2019s more of a middle of the road rocker that starts the balance of the album, where we\u2019ve had these previous tracks belted out at us, we slow it down a little and it works so well.\u00a0 This song reminds me of a Tom Petty vibe at times and that\u2019s a good thing.\u00a0 \u2018Shot To Kill\u2019 also a song that\u2019s been around for a bit brings back that Springsteen vibe and it\u2019s probably the catchiest song on the album, this is a winner.\u00a0 What King Cannons do which I love as I mentioned is balance, as we\u2019ve just gone from high energy choruses in \u2018Shot To Kill\u2019 and \u2018Ride Again\u2019 then to the almost mellow reggae styled \u2018Charlie O\u2019 which shows the diversity of this band, normally I\u2019d shy away from a song like this but I found myself swaying along with it, I guess it just grabs you.\u00a0 \u2018The Cool Change\u2019 and \u2018On Our Own\u2019 are great album tracks both as rockers and then we\u2019re hit with \u2018Everyman\u2019s Tale\u2019 which is such a well written song, stripped away are the raucous guitars and driving melodies to give us this acoustic track.\u00a0 So simple, yet so effective.\u00a0 \u2018The Last Post\u2019 is a rocker and far from the bugle piece we all know but instead a perfect way to round out this great album.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s just something about this band that oozes cool, there\u2019s a sound that is vintage yet modern that takes the best elements of legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Joe Strummer and delivers with so much passion and soul.\u00a0 Essentially this is a band that truly loves what they do and it shows.\u00a0 Where it shows the most though is in their live act, if you\u2019ve had the privilege of seeing King Cannons live you\u2019ll know what I mean, in my opinion they\u2019re one of, if not the best live band in Australia at the moment and these songs will be a perfect addition into their already amazing live show.<\/p>\n
