Official Bio:<\/em> \u201cPandorum is a band that has emerged in 2011 by a group of musicians that thrive on difference whilst still maintaining a commercial appeal to the mainstream music scene. \u00a0Creating a fusion between stadium rock music and a chilling orchestra sound, Pandorum leave a lot to be remembered and without a doubt a stage of memories. \u00a0The band\u2019s debut is powerful but at the same time seething with anthemic qualities and melodies that enrapture listeners upon their first listen. \u00a0Through life experiences and dedication this group has created a sound that can never be forgotten.<\/p>\n

Hailing from Melbourne, 5 musicians were pieced together and were all looking for something new. \u00a0Something appealing yet questionable. \u00a0Something that would just jump out and shock listeners. \u00a0This has now been achieved. \u00a0A sound that cannot be compared, a remembrance like no other and a completely unique image.<\/p>\n

We will hand it over now to vocalist Shaun Smith to reveal more about Pandorum\u2026<\/p>\n

Let’s start with the basics first, when did the first band get together and what was the inspiration behind the band name Pandorum?
\n<\/strong>Pandorum was formed in early 2011.\u00a0 The term Pandorum is a science fiction term used in space. You may find yourself in a state of Pandorum. \u00a0Thinking there is nothing left,\u00a0 Thinking you can’t be saved usually causes craziness.<\/p>\n

You have twenty seconds in an elevator to try and convince someone to listen to your music, without resorting to threats or violence, what do you tell them?
\n<\/strong>Provided the elevator wasn\u2019t already playing a jazz version of one of our songs I would say (to the female) \u201cI need to do up my pants, can you please hold these headphones on your head for a minute?\u201d<\/p>\n

Following on from your earlier EP release, you have a new release coming out on the horizon, when are we likely to see your new release drop and importantly, what can we expect?
\n<\/strong>We have a new single which will be released soon titled \u2018Machine\u2019. \u00a0The fans will notice a very big change in style along with some surprises surrounding the song.<\/p>\n

In terms of song writing, what do you consider to be the most important elements that feature in a Pandorum song?
\n<\/strong>We have always been big fans of music that gets stuck in your head (for the right reasons) and hope to have the same effect on people with our writing. \u00a0The main element in our writing style would have to be passion and being able to connect emotionally with the fans.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the bands evolution, what or who have you found inspires and influences your music the most, in both a lyrical and musical sense?
\n<\/strong>I find that mine and other peoples experiences have reflected heavily on my lyric writing. \u00a0As for musical inspiration I have always been a big fan of orchestral\/electronic rock as it\u2019s just a huge sound, always has a modern element to it and is also an endless challenge.<\/p>\n

Hypothetically speaking of course, if you could travel back in time (or into the future even, say tomorrow\u2026.) and play your music to any one of your musical heroes, who would it be and why?
\n<\/strong>I personally would love to travel back in time and say to Beethoven \u201cCheck out how cool these loud distorted guitars and drums sound along with your piano and strings\u201d.<\/p>\n

Quite excitingly, you have just been announced to play a festival in Singapore, how did that come about and whilst we are at it, has there been much overseas interest in the band so far?
\n<\/strong>Yes, we are so excited to be playing the Music Matters Festival in Singapore. We were approached only a couple of weeks ago. \u00a0It\u2019s a really great opportunity for us to showcase what we are about and bring a new sound to Singapore.<\/p>\n

You hail from Melbourne, arguably the rock capital of Australia. \u00a0For the benefit of those in galaxies far, far, away…what do you have to say about the Melbourne rock scene at the moment and Pandorum’s place within it?
\n<\/strong>Melbourne has some great venues set up for live music. \u00a0The best part is that most people know the names of places. \u00a0We have never really had to explain locations which is a good sign that a lot of people are familiar with local bands. Pandorum have been receiving a great reception from our shows. \u00a0We have some really dedicated fans and the word keeps spreading.<\/p>\n

If you were a person in the crowd at one of your gigs, what five words would you walk away using to describe the performance you just witnessed?
\n<\/strong>\u201cNever heard anything like that\u201d J<\/p>\n
