\"\"<\/a>Modern Love<\/em><\/strong> – Special Edition features 3 new\u00a0acoustic tracks!<\/p>\n

This June sees the release of a Special Edition version of Matt Nathanson\u2019s<\/strong> American Top 20 album Modern Love<\/strong><\/em>, timed to coincide with the star\u2019s arrival on Australian shores. Kicking off a series of East Coast dates at The Sydney Opera Hous<\/strong>e<\/strong> on 7 June<\/strong> with pop-rock superstars Train<\/strong>, Nathanson will wow Australian fans with his acclaimed live show.<\/p>\n

A collection of pop and rock songs that are more joyful, complex and bold than any of Matt Nathanson\u2019s previous works, Modern Love<\/strong><\/em> boasts the US Top 3 single<\/strong> \u2018Come On Get Higher\u2019, which has sold over two million copies to date.\u00a0 An additional three new acoustic tracks will feature on the special edition release, including a stripped-back rendition of the US Top 5 single \u2018Car Crash\u2019.<\/p>\n

Modern Love<\/strong><\/em> follows on from 2007\u2019s break-out success Some Mad Hope<\/strong><\/em>, which catapulted the San Francisco-based Nathanson from darling of the touring circuit with a devoted cult following to a bonafide hit maker and one of the premiere songwriters on the music scene today. Nathanson has recently toured with Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson and Train, and enjoyed numerous television appearances including David Letterman, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Dancing with the Stars, along with a sold-out US headline tour.<\/p>\n

Known for his legendary live shows that are both wildly funny and emotionally provocative, Nathanson took a year off the road to record Modern Love<\/strong><\/em> – the first break he has taken from touring in his 15-year career. The success of Some Mad Hope<\/em><\/strong> and \u2018Come On Get Higher\u2019 gave Nathanson a sense of accomplishment and confidence that allowed him to take a new approach to Modern Love<\/em><\/strong>, taking bigger risks and diving deeper into his vast array of musical influences. The writing process started by exploring songs that were more physical and groove-based, drawing from influences such as Depeche Mode, ACDC and Talking Heads. \u201cThat was a sexy song and it connected, people got it,\u201d<\/em> he says of \u2018Come On Get Higher\u2019. \u201cSo we started with the idea of keeping a groove steady the whole way through a song. I wanted things to breathe and hang off these songs in a way that defied the fact that they were written on an acoustic guitar.\u201d<\/em> By the time the eleven songs, written and produced with his long time collaborator Mark Weinberg<\/strong>, were completed, Nathanson was marvelling at the new territory they had covered. From the \u201cDepeche Mode groove\u201d in \u201cMercy \u2018Less Drowning, More Land)\u2019 to the ecstatic opening track and first single \u2018Faster\u2019, to the soaring \u2018Run\u2019, which features Jennifer Nettles <\/strong>and Kristian Bush<\/strong>, Modern Love<\/em><\/strong> is a luminous and bold departure.<\/p>\n
