New album produced by Jacknife Lee available in Australia May 4, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dangerbird Records and Warner Music Australia are\u00a0excited to announce the release of the new record by the Grammy-nominated<\/strong> Silversun Pickups,\u00a0Neck of the Woods<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0on May 4.\u00a0The record was produced by the Grammy Award-winning Jacknife Lee<\/strong> (U2, Weezer, REM, Snow Patrol), and the song Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)<\/em><\/strong> will be the first single.<\/p>\n

Lead singer\/guitarist Brian Aubert told\u00a0Spin\u00a0magazine that the new songs\u00a0sound \u201clike a horror movie\u2026. [2009’s]\u00a0Swoon\u00a0was more about what I was feeling at that particular time, whereas with this one, I wanted to see what built me. It was learning why I am the way I am.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

Aubert also told\u00a0Spin\u00a0that drummer Christopher Guanlao steals the show.\u00a0\u201cWe really wanted to play with drums as textures. We played around with drums coming in here and there and building atmosphere, which guitars usually do<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he went on to joke, \u201cI’m not going to let the others have all the fun. It’s still a rock record. We wanted to have moments of explosions like we’ve done in the past, but we didn’t want them to carry the whole song. There’s something a little bit psychotic sounding that we really like and we didn’t want to fill it entirely with big guitars.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Silversun Pickups (Aubert, Guanlao, bassist\/vocals Nikki Monninger and keyboardist Joe Lester) have sold over one million records worldwide. Their first EP, Pikul,<\/em><\/strong> was released in 2005 and whilst it hinted at great things to come, no one was quite prepared for the explosion of the band\u2019s debut LP,\u00a0Carnavas. Released in 2006, Carnavas was the #1 Alternative and Independent record for four consecutive weeks in the USA.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Silversun Pickups followed up with the equally powerful\u00a0Swoon, the record debuted at #7 on the\u00a0Billboard\u00a0Top 200 and was in the chart for over 22 weeks on the strength of the #1 Modern Rock smash, Panic Switch.<\/em> \u00a0\u00a0In Australia, Swoon<\/em> peaked at #14 on the national ARIA album chart and claimed the coveted feature album position on triple j.<\/p>\n
