\"\"<\/a>Sony Music Entertainment Australia announced today the May 11, 2012 release of Tenacious D\u2019s<\/strong> widely-anticipated\u00a0RIZE OF THE FENIX<\/em><\/strong>, the band\u2019s first studio album in over six years.\u00a0RIZE OF THE FENIX<\/em><\/strong> is the third album from the group and is the follow-up to 2006\u2019s gold\u00a0THE PICK OF DESTINY<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and 2001\u2019s platinum debut album\u00a0TENACIOUS D<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Produced by the brilliant John Kimbrough<\/strong>,\u00a0RIZE OF THE FENIX<\/em><\/strong> was recorded in the garage behind his LA home and features Jack Black and Kyle Gass (Tenacious D\u2019s<\/strong> core duo), performing with Dave Grohl<\/strong> (drums), \u00a0John Spiker<\/strong> (bass, piano, organ)and John Konesky<\/strong> (electric guitar). The album was engineered and mixed by John Spiker<\/strong> who has been touring with the band for years.<\/p>\n

From their concentrated effort emerged thirteen profoundly evocative tracks, the making of which the band describes as a \u201cjourney similar to that of Gandolph in The Lord of the Rings<\/em>.\u201d When the ill received Pick of Destiny<\/strong> movie failed to strike box office gold, it virtually stripped away the duos rock god stature overnight. \u201cThere we no more bouncers waving us through the velvet ropes, we were persona non gratta\u201d\u00a0<\/em>said singer Jack Black.\u00a0<\/em>Kyle Gass added, \u201cThere we were- just like Gandolph the grey, down in the muck- but we never gave up, We defeated our own personal demons and began chipping away, slowly climbing back to the land of the living- when we emerged we were no longer the old Tenacious D, we were Gandolph the white, with new powers and wisdom and bravery and skills.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Rize of the Fenix<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was recorded over the past six years as Tenacious D<\/strong> went back to their roots. \u201cWe recorded down and dirty in a friend\u2019s garage with a shoestring budget of 600 dollars, much like Nirvana’s first album \u201cBleach\u201d-or the Beatles first album \u201cHelp\u201d. Rough and yet a masterpiece<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
