\n<\/a>MASTODON TEAM UP WITH NOTED FINE ARTIST ON VIDEO FOR \u2018DRY BONE VALLEY\u2019, THE FOLLOW-UP TO GRAMMY-NOMINATED \u2018CURL OF THE BURL\u2019 FROM BAND\u2019S ACCLAIMED ALBUM THE HUNTER<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

To create the video for their new single \u2018Dry Bone Valley\u2019,<\/strong> Atlanta rock icons Mastodon<\/strong> have teamed up with noted fine artist Tim Biskup<\/strong> a long-time friend who has amassed a cadre of loyal fans and collectors of his painting and sculpture, which boast complex color and design theories and a decidedly populist aesthetic. This collaboration with Mastodon marks Biskup\u2019s first foray into film\/video work in nearly six years.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoing video for \u2018Dry Bone Valley\u2019 was a dream project,\u201d says Biskup, who also designed a hoodie for Mastodon in the past. \u201cThe band\u2019s aesthetic has always been interesting and inspiring to me and I think what I do aligns with their music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTim is an old friend of ours and one of my favorite artists,\u201d says Mastodon\u2019s Brann Dailor about working with Biskup. \u201cThe opportunity to work with him was unique and very special for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2018Dry Bone Valley\u2019 video is \u201cbasically about waking up to find yourself being chased by death and having to reckon with dying and what that actually means to you,\u201d Biskup explains. \u201cIt\u2019s a life\/death metaphor where the girl in the video goes from hunted to hunter. There\u2019s a whole lot more going on metaphorically, and the symbolism goes very deep and is very specific, but I\u2019ll leave the rest up to interpretation.\u201d\u00a0 Watch the new video below.<\/p>\n

\u2018Dry Bone Valley\u2019 is the second single from Mastodon\u2019s critically acclaimed album The Hunter<\/em><\/strong>, which found its way onto several Year End\/Best Of critics\u2019 lists, including those compiled by Rolling Stone<\/em>, Spin<\/em>, Revolver<\/em>, and Decibel<\/em>. The Hunter<\/em><\/strong> entered the Billboard<\/em> Top 200 Album chart in the Top 10. The first single, \u2019Curl Of The Burl\u2019 has been nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock\/Metal Performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

At present Mastodon are immersed in an extensive tour of Europe and Australia, which culminates in an appearance at the Soundwave Festival in March.<\/p>\n
