When <strong>Lil Lotus<\/strong>, asks<em>, &#8220;Do you want to&#8221; <\/em>over and over in the final third of the song, the answer is a firm and resounding yes!<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;They Said Your Ghost Was a\u00a0Promise is a really special song,&#8221; <\/em>the band says. <em>&#8220;It tackles the subject of loss of a loved one, and we hope it can resonate with others dealing with the same.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Formed in Florida in the early 2000s,<strong> From First to Last<\/strong> helped define the post-hardcore and emo scene by colliding soaring melody, chaotic aggression, and emotional songwriting. The raw, genre-blurring sound of <em><strong>Aesthetic<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Dear Diary<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Heroine <\/strong><\/em>influenced generations of heavy music.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While former vocalist <strong>Sonny Moore<\/strong> went on to become <strong>Skrillex<\/strong>, founding-era guitarist <strong>Matt Good<\/strong> remained a driving force in modern rock, producing for <strong>Asking Alexandria<\/strong>,<strong> Sleeping With Sirens<\/strong>, <strong>Hollywood Undead<\/strong>, <strong>The Word Alive<\/strong>, <strong>Memphis May Fire<\/strong>, and <strong>Escape the Fate<\/strong>. Guitarist <strong>Travis Richter <\/strong>later co-founded Los Angeles venue 1720, where his path converged with vocalist<strong> Lil Lotus<\/strong>. Together they formed <strong>If I Die First,<\/strong> channeling early screamo for a new generation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Lotus <\/strong>grew up seeing himself in <strong>From First to Last<\/strong>. His unmistakable tone, visceral screams, and perspective as a lifelong fan make his arrival feel less like a replacement than the closing of a circuit.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">By recruiting original bassist<strong> Matt Manning<\/strong> and drummer <strong>Chris Lent <\/strong>(I Set My Friends on Fire), the band has\u00a0found the original source code of volatile dynamics, indelible melody and human imperfection into music shaped by adult experiences of loss, survival and rebuilding.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Now signed to <strong>Fearless Records<\/strong>, <strong>From First to Last <\/strong>have returned to live stages and completed a new EP.
