\"\"<\/a>The Roundhouse is sold out tonight and rightfully so as everyone is ready and excited for the return of Biffy Clyro to Sydney for the first time since 2018.<\/p>\n

Lights go down as the “Mon the Biff” chants start immediately. The band take the stage and take us straight into ‘With a Little Love’ and this new one from Futique sounds awesome, my god the sound is amazing in here tonight. What a way to start the set. They waste absolutely no time before Simon riffs in ‘Hunting Season’ sticking with the new album, and I\u2019m a big fan of this song and getting to hear it tonight is perfect. The band is sounding spectacular and are as tight as always and special props to Naomi MacLeod filling in for James on bass, she is amazing. The crowd explode as ‘That Golden Rule’ starts and we absolutely love this one as they get everyone clapping and as they break it down these amazing time signatures mean nothing to them as they destroy them and play this like it’s the easiest song ever written. The brilliance of Biffy Clyro ladies and gentlemen. Simon says hi and they head into ‘Who’s Got a Match?’ which gets us all singing and they are delivering. Back to Futique with ‘Shot One’ which is one of my favourites off the new album as I’m a sucker for a ballad so hearing this tonight was a treat. Simon moves away from a strat for ‘Space’ keeping things slower and what a tune that is, and as it builds you can just feel the vibe in the room and it’s great. Then we rock things back up for ‘Wolves of Winter’ and didn’t they what?! Immediate highlight of the night right here, and again, the musicianship is just unbelievable.<\/p>\n

Into one of the the most fun and boppiest songs of the bands catalogue ‘Tiny Indoor Fireworks’ and it’s amazing to hear this one live for the first time in Sydney. What a song. ‘Goodbye’ from Futique keeps the new album going and it’s so nice hearing the reactions these songs are getting. Simon is giving some love for James who isn’t here and with Naomi holding it down the reaction is amazing. ‘Friendshipping’ is another banger from the new album and the way these songs just fit in perfectly into the set is testament to what the band continues to create. Although the next one really got the place revved up, ‘Biblical’ is up and as the crowd kicks in the whoa ohs it sounds brilliant. What a song. ‘A Thousand and One’ slows things down again but this just shows how amazing this band is that this balance can happen and it not lull the set in any way. Then we go the exact opposite with ‘Different People’ as it rings in and the hum is soothing, but they love this one and as the impossible time signature kicks in and it’s so impressive. Definitely a highlight. ‘A Hunger in Your Haunt’ kicks into full gear and keeps that energy up big time with that brilliant middle 8 and rounding it out before one of my favourite of the catalogue ‘Black Chandelier’ is up. That was epic!! Nailed it and that ending was insane!! Ben addresses the crowd before ‘Instant History’ and they can do no wrong tonight. The “Mon the Biff” chants start again then into ‘Two People in Love’ which is a favourite off of Futique for me. It’s a treat getting this many new ones and them seamlessly becoming favourites of many here tonight. You can tell we’re getting close to the end as one of their biggest songs just took its place in the set. ‘Mountains’ was one of my earliest introductions to Biffy Clyro and it’s always amazing to hear it live. That was amazing!!! What a way to finish the main set as the band thank us and head off stage.<\/p>\n

Simon returns with an acoustic and delivers an amazing version of ‘Machines’ man this guy has so much heart and he gives it his all with every song and this one felt a little more personal tonight as Ben comes out to do some vocals that was special. Having all of us join in was perfect too. The band returns for ‘The Captain’ and the place is rockin’ and this big one gets everyone going and joining in on some perfectly in time “whoa oh ohs”. I mean we’re definitely getting close to the end now. ‘Living Is a Problem Because Everything Dies’ with that musical perfection kicking in again, they have not dropped a single note tonight. Some fun guitar noodling from Simon before they close this one out. ‘Bubbles’ is another of those insanely catchy songs from the band and as some real bubbles are seen floating above the crowd and with the crowd bopping along perfectly with this one you remember just how good this song is. Speaking of good songs\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2018Many of Horror\u2019 is more commonly known as a religious experience is next and closes the show. This song needs to be witnessed live to truly, truly understand it. The heart this song has and the way this is being belted back to the stage proves just how powerful it is and how much it is loved by those here. Wow. The song rings out as the band take in their deserved applause, what a show.<\/p>\n

I think and I need to check but I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019m right in saying that Biffy Clyro is what comes up in the dictionary when you look up the word perfection. They’re simply that good. I can\u2019t wait until they\u2019re back already. An absolute must see live band. Mon The Biff!!<\/p>\n
