\"\"<\/a>This is going to be fun. While here in Australia supporting Metallica, Evanescence are doing a few intimate shows and tonight it\u2019s our turn as this sold out in minutes, Metro Theatre is about to see something special. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here we go. It\u2019s 8pm\u2026 No support, just Evanescence and as the band take the stage the cheers roar and that unmistakable voice of Amy Lee starts \u2018Afterlife\u2019 and wow, this is huge. The stage set up is perfect, the sound is top notch and as a deafening cheer rings through the venue they head immediately into \u2018What You Want\u2019 and is each song just going to get better? I\u2019ll say yes\u2026and a big yes as \u2018Going Under\u2019 takes its place. This is easily in my top 5 songs of the band and this is epic and hearing it in a room like this is insane. This is a true stadium song and I can\u2019t wait to hear it again tomorrow. Bloody hell. Things change up a little with \u2018Yeah Right\u2019 but as it kicks in it hits that groove before closing with Amy on the keys then staying there to start \u2018Call Me When You\u2019re Sober\u2019 before it explodes and I\u2019m just in awe of the power of Amy and the band. These songs are massive and it\u2019s hard to not look away. Watching Will on drums is a treat too, he\u2019s throwing sticks, and hasn\u2019t missed one yet either. Class. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018The Change\u2019 bathes the band in pink and just wow. Catching a breath before \u2018The Other Side\u2019 and for a song she said they haven\u2019t played for a while it\u2019s safe to say they nailed it. I wonder if Amy sets this up where she gets the slower starts to get a rest but \u2018Wasted on You\u2019 slows things down just a little finally as I think the whole band can rest and reset after that insane first 30 minutes but rest time is over as that power kicks in. The band leave the stage as Amy stays on with a keyboard and invites us to her \u201cHigh school Evanescence show\u201d before the entire place goes silent as she plays \u2018Lost in Paradise\u2019 and hearing her voice like this is breathtaking. Then as the band return this yeah I\u2019m calling it a power ballad, hits overdrive. Damn. Welcome to the top 5, \u2018Lost in Paradise\u2019 if I was a 90\u2019s high school girl right now I literally could not even. That\u2019s how good that was. Staying centre stage for \u2018Lithium\u2019 which as expected was larger than life. The power that song has is huge. It reminds you how strong the Evanescence catalogue is. <\/span><\/p>\n

Time to \u2018Fight Like a Girl\u2019 which you may have heard on the newest John Wick franchise movie, Ballerina, but let\u2019s just say it\u2019s a lot better hearing it this way tonight. Damn this is good. Will belts in \u2018Take Cover\u2019 and how Amy is still hitting these massive notes is beyond me. It\u2019s safe to say that Amy Lee is probably the best female rock vocalist out there presently. This control is unbelievable. She stays on stage to belt out the opening of \u2018End of The Dream\u2019 and as expected the band take this to a level above the hardest level in any video game, I can\u2019t get enough of this. How is this band so good? Gotta shout out Tim, Troy and Emma too, this one tight band and they are delivering an experience tonight. \u2018Better Without You\u2019 continues the experience and the schooling they\u2019re giving other bands. It\u2019s really hard to not continue gushing over this, but what am I supposed to do when it\u2019s actually this good?! \u2018Imaginary\u2019 is sonically magic and got close to the biggest reaction of the night, then \u2018Use My Voice\u2019 lets her do just that as\u00a0 <\/span>she lets us do the same as we all join in.\u00a0 <\/span>With only a few left \u2018Blind Belief\u2019 starts on the keys before kablamo, and this epic tune takes its place in the set. What a great song to throw in this late. <\/span><\/p>\n

The keys return to the front of the stage and it\u2019s pretty obvious what\u2019s next. Amy\u2019s gratitude is honest and true and we appreciate it. \u201cFor old times sake\u201d it\u2019s \u2019My Immortal\u2019 as the phones all lift and the voices with them. This is pretty amazing to be a part of. The band have just walked on, here we go!! The song is taken to that epic level we remember it as. That was sensational. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of course the last song of the night belongs to the one that started it all. \u2018Bring Me to Life\u2019 and as you can imagine the place went nuts. This matured version is even better than it was, and with Amy still hitting those massive notes it\u2019s just perfection. The impressive part was her taking on the middle 8 part where she did not only her parts but those made famous by Paul of 12 Stones as she flipped vocal registers to do so. This is a true professional. As the song ends on a massive high, the band get their flowers (Amy literally) and soak in the magic that was tonight. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the lucky 1,500 that were here, this is a show they\u2019ll be talking about for a long time, band included. Evanescence is a band you truly need to see live, as tonight was magical. What a night.<\/span><\/p>\n
