Two decades after the release of one of Australia\u2019s most defining rock records,\u00a0Eskimo Joe<\/strong>\u00a0are hitting the road once again to celebrate\u00a0Black Fingernails Red Wine<\/em><\/strong>, the album that shaped a generation, topped charts, and became a cornerstone of Australian music history with its themes of identity, politics, and human connection that still feel as powerful and relevant as ever.<\/p>\n

The multi-ARIA Award-winning trio will perform the entire album live, in full, alongside a career-spanning set of their biggest hits, as part of a capital city tour across Australia in 2026.<\/p>\n

Kicking off on May 1 in their home town of Fremantle, the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary Tour will head to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide, revisiting some of the iconic venues that shaped Eskimo Joe\u2019s early years.<\/p>\n

Tickets are on sale today at 9am AEDT from\u00a0<\/strong>www.eskimojoe.net\/tours<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The shows will feature\u00a0Black Fingernails Red Wine<\/em>\u00a0performed in its entirety, followed by a second set packed with fan favourites from across the band\u2019s acclaimed catalogue, including hits like\u00a0From the Sea<\/em>,\u00a0Love is a Drug<\/em>,\u00a0Foreign Land<\/em>, and their latest single,\u00a0Miracle Cure<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Joining Eskimo Joe as special guest at each show is singer-songwriter\u00a0Alex Llloyd<\/strong>, whose own success with debut album\u00a0Black the Sun<\/em>\u00a0and the ARIA-Award-winning hit song\u00a0Amazing<\/em>\u00a0shared the spotlight around the same time as Eskimo Joe began carving out one of the most enduring careers in Australian rock.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking back, we\u2019d been working really hard leading up to that record, honing our songwriting and performance.\u201d says\u00a0<\/em>frontman\u00a0Kav Temperley<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>\u201cBy the time we got into the studio, we were feeling pretty match fit. But I don\u2019t think any of us realised at the time what a huge impact that album would have on us, or how much it would change our trajectory. I have nothing but gratitude for the fact that we can still go out and play Black Fingernails Red Wine and that it still means so much to so many people, it absolutely blows my mind and warms my\u00a0heart.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying the album from start to finish is such a special experience for us,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0says guitarist\u00a0Stu MacLeod<\/strong>.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a chance for us to relive a pretty special moment in time for us, and to revisit those songs that never made it to the stage. Some of my favourite Eskimo Joe songs are incidental album tracks that we just never performed live.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Guitarist and drummer\u00a0Joel Quartermain<\/strong>\u00a0adds,\u00a0\u201cWith this album, the band really arrived at a point of creative cohesion.\u00a0 We seemed to have that elusive balance of experience, youth and (blind) confidence to go after a pretty ambitions vision.\u00a0 It was a sweet spot and when we play these songs live, it\u2019s fun to return to that place.\u00a0 The record works as a whole piece, so to perform it in its entirety only makes sense and feels great!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

When\u00a0Black Fingernails Red Wine<\/em>\u00a0was released in June 2006, it was an instant success. The record debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart, achieved 4x Platinum sales, and spawned a string of hit singles from the unmistakable opening sounds of\u00a0Comfort You<\/em>, through hits such as\u00a0Sarah<\/em>,\u00a0New York<\/em>\u00a0and the album\u2019s juggernaut title track, to the epic closing track\u00a0How Does It Feel.<\/em><\/p>\n

It also earned Eskimo Joe four ARIA Awards, including \u201cSingle of the Year\u201d, and saw them sell out arenas across the country. The album\u2019s brooding tone, ambitious self-production, and emotionally charged songwriting marked a bold evolution from the band\u2019s earlier records\u00a0Girl<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0A Song Is a City<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In addition to the live shows, in collaboration with Howard Park Winery, Eskimo Joe will release a special\u00a0Black Fingernails Red Wine 20th Anniversary Edition Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong>. With\u00a0 more details to come, this exclusive wine and commemorative merchandise will be available throughout the tour.<\/p>\n

Eskimo Joe last toured in in 2018 with an ambitious national orchestral tour featuring symphony orchestras from around Australia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
