To celebrate his landmark album\u00a0For The Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0JIMMY BARNES<\/strong>\u00a0is hitting the road for the\u00a0Working Class Man 40th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary Tour<\/strong>, proudly presented by MG Live and Face To Face Touring.<\/p>\n

Barnesy<\/em><\/strong>, as he\u2019s affectionately known, will be playing the iconic album from start to finish, taking the crowd from\u00a0I\u2019d Die To Be With You Tonight<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0Paradise<\/em>, plus classic cuts from his chart-topping catalogue.<\/p>\n

The tour kicks off on Saturday 22 November at Mount Duneed Estate, Geelong VIC, and then heads to Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton QLD on Saturday 29 November; Bimbadgen, Hunter Valley NSW on Saturday 6 December; The Regatta Grounds, Hobart TAS on Saturday 17 January; Peter Lehmann Wines, Barossa Valley SA on Saturday 31 January; and Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley WA on Saturday 7 February.<\/p>\n

Released in December 1985,\u00a0For The Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0went straight to number one on the chart and helped define Jimmy\u2019s hugely successful solo career. As the authors of\u00a0The 100 Best Australian Albums\u00a0<\/em>declared, \u201cIt defined both him and much of Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n

The album spent seven weeks at number one, becoming Barnesy\u2019s longest-running chart-topper. And it has sold more than 500,000 copies in Australia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

For The Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is packed with classics, including Jimmy\u2019s first Top 10 solo single\u00a0I\u2019d Die To Be With You Tonight<\/em>, the Top 40 smash\u00a0Ride The Night Away<\/em>, and the beautiful ballad that he wrote for his wife Jane,\u00a0Without Your Love<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And, of course, the album features his signature song, the unofficial national anthem,\u00a0Working Class Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For the Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0also included seven reworked songs from his chart-topping solo debut\u00a0Bodyswerve<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0including\u00a0No Second Prize, Daylight<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Promise Me You\u2019ll Call<\/em>.<\/p>\n

To coincide with the landmark tour, a special 40th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary release of the album via Mushroom Music will be welcome news to collectors and music fans alike, released on Friday 14 November and available to preorder now\u00a0here<\/a>. Honouring the formats originally released in 1985 and newly remastered for the anniversary,\u00a0For The Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will be released as a 2LP ‘flame’ coloured, hand-poured vinyl in a gatefold jacket, the first time it’s been on two records since it hit shelves. Also for the first time since 1985, the singles will be available as an exclusive limited-edition boxset of coloured 7″s \u2013\u00a0Ride The Night Away, I’d Die To Be With You Tonight, Working Class Man<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 and a new fourth single which includes a stripped back, re-worked version of\u00a0Working Class Man<\/em>\u00a0and a 10-minute reflection by Jimmy on the creation of the iconic music video.\u00a0The 40th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary Edition will also be available on CD and cassette.\u00a0The album\u2019s cultural impact is undeniable; it continues to hold lasting significance in the DNA of Australian music.\u00a0Working Class Man<\/em>\u00a0was recently included in the triple j Hottest 100 of Australian Songs. The juggernaut that is\u00a0JIMMY BARNES<\/strong>\u00a0is showing no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

Joining\u00a0JIMMY BARNES<\/strong>\u00a0for these epic shows are three of the biggest stars of the\u00a0Working Class Man<\/em>\u00a0era who are also still at the top of their game \u2013\u00a0ICEHOUSE<\/strong>,\u00a0IAN MOSS<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0KATE CEBERANO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Led by the evergreen Iva Davies,\u00a0ICEHOUSE<\/strong>\u00a0is responsible for one of the biggest Australian albums of all time \u2013 1987\u2019s classic\u00a0Man of Colours<\/em>. Two singles from the album were smash hits in the US:\u00a0Electric Blue<\/em>\u00a0(#7) and\u00a0Crazy<\/em>\u00a0(#14). Iva also wrote the enduring classic\u00a0Great Southern Land<\/em>. As author Andrew P Street said, \u201cGreat Southern Land<\/em>\u00a0remains one of the greatest evocations of the sheer ancient emptiness of Australia.\u201d\u00a0ICEHOUSE<\/strong>\u00a0were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006.<\/p>\n

Barnesy\u2019s Cold Chisel comrade\u00a0IAN MOSS<\/strong>\u00a0hit number one with his first solo album,\u00a0Matchbook<\/em>, featuring the classic\u00a0Tucker\u2019s Daughter<\/em>. After eight studio albums, he recently released the acclaimed live album\u00a0Live At Anita\u2019s (<\/em>\u201cthe new live album shows that Mossy\u2019s voice is still a thing of beauty, while his guitar work remains instinctive and inventive\u201d \u2013 STACK magazine). In 2014, Mossy\u2019s fellow musicians ranked him as Australia\u2019s greatest guitarist in a News Corp poll.<\/p>\n

KATE CEBERANO<\/strong>\u00a0was still a teenager when\u00a0For<\/em>\u00a0The Working Class Man<\/em>\u00a0was released, but she was already a star, fronting the band I\u2019m Talking. \u00a0Kate has recently been embracing Oz-music\u2019s rich past with her\u00a0Australian Made: Live<\/em>\u00a0show \u2013 and is treating audiences to an encore on Jimmy\u2019s tour. Boasting a setlist of her own Platinum catalogue alongside songs made famous by Cold Chisel, ICEHOUSE, Divinyls through to Sia, Bernard Fanning and Wolfmother, this is a simultaneous act of grateful reflection and bold creative evolution.<\/p>\n

JIMMY BARNES<\/strong>\u00a0is the most successful artist in Australian chart history. He\u2019s had 16 solo number one albums \u2013 no artist has had more \u2013 plus six chart-topping albums with Cold Chisel. Barnesy\u2019s 21st solo album,\u00a0DEFIANT<\/em>, entered the Australian charts at number one in June this year. Cold Chisel\u2019s new live album,\u00a0The Big Five-O Live<\/em>, will be released on August 8.<\/p>\n

The shows will also honour a dear friend who was instrumental in the making of the album. The late-great Michael Gudinski said, \u201cI\u2019m as proud of\u00a0For The Working Class Man<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0as any album the Mushroom Group has released.\u201d Michael called the album Jimmy\u2019s gift to his fans \u2013 \u201ca record for everyone who\u2019s believed in him \u2026\u00a0For The Working Class Man.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n
