The Living End were faced with the conundrum when recording \u2018I Only Love Rock n Roll\u2019 of how to tap into the na\u00efve fire and fury of their youth, when they\u2019ve already got a 25-year legacy behind them.<\/p>\n

But with Chris Cheney living in the US during the time of the George Floyd murder, the riots and the pandemic they didn\u2019t have to look far to draw inspiration. For a band often defined by its musical muscle, The Living End have never been short on opinions and on \u2018I Only Trust Rock n Roll\u2019 they make that known.<\/p>\n

The song \u2018Roller\u2019 came first while recently released single \u2018Strange Place\u2019 hit the band\u2019s sweet spot in the same vein of long-standing hit \u2018Prisoner of Society\u2019, and first single \u2018Alfie\u2019 became the album\u2019s hard-slamming opening track.<\/p>\n

Sonically, \u201cwe were very clear,\u201d Cheney says: \u201cWe did not want to make a big, over-the-top record with a hundred parts. We\u2019ve made those records. This one had to sound like a slick machine. Trim the fat. Yeah, there are those harmonies and extra guitar bits. But a big part of the writing was knowing what a song\u00a0didn\u2019t<\/em>\u00a0need.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next stop, the stage. \u201cThe best gigs are when we come off completely rooted. We leave nothing behind,\u201d Strachan says. Owen agrees. \u201cWe\u2019ve been through a lot together, and we\u2019ve learned when to get out of each other\u2019s way. At the end of the day, it\u2019s about three guys, plugged in, going for it. No tricks. Songs that hit hard and mean something.\u201d<\/p>\n

On\u00a0this\u00a0tour The Living End will blast through two huge sets every night: the first set will see them rip through select tracks from the new \u2018I Only Trust Rock n Roll\u2019 album, plus play the full swag of hits that have made them household names over the last three decades \u2013 \u2018White Noise\u2019, \u2018Roll On\u2019, \u2018Who\u2019s Gonna Save Us\u2019 and more.<\/p>\n

The second set will take fans back to where it all started with the band playing their iconic,\u00a0multi-platinum\u00a0self-titled debut album in FULL \u2013\u00a0\u2018All Torn Down\u2019, \u2018Second Solution\u2019, \u2018Prisoner of Society\u2019\u00a0alongside\u00a0every\u00a0other\u00a0album track. What more could a TLE fan ask for? It\u2019s a concert experience that truly spans the full history of the band.<\/p>\n
