As a musician, Midge has been a key part of various significant moments in music history; along with his own solo commercial successes and work with numerous bands over the years, Midge’s work in co-writing and producing\u00a0‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0Band Aid<\/strong>\u00a0enshrined him alongside\u00a0Bob Geldof<\/strong>\u00a0as one of the most important figures in British music.<\/p>\n

Midge’s career as a touring artist has continued to flourish through the decades into the 2020s, marking his 70th birthday with a one-night only live music event at London’s iconic\u00a0Royal Albert Hall<\/strong>. Titled\u00a0Celebrating 7 Decades: A Life In Music<\/em>, the event was an acknowledgement of Midge’s life and journey through music and creativity; a perfect way to celebrate a birthday, but also an untouchable set of contributions to popular music.<\/p>\n

The show, recorded and released as\u00a0Live At The Royal Albert Hall<\/em>\u00a0in 2024, reinforced Midge’s cultural and musical legacy, and became further inspiration for him to keep the celebrations going, in bringing the ‘Catalogue’ tour to Australia.<\/p>\n

“I performed live long before I was ever allowed anywhere near a recording studio and as much as I love spending time writing and recording, live music remains my first love. This ‘Catalogue’ tour will allow me to not only play a wide selection of hits from my past but perform some of the most requested favourites. Revisiting these moments from my musical life is something I am really looking forward to sharing.”<\/em>

Midge Ure’s career is one marked with multiple accolades\u00a0 and life accomplishments, not limited to receiving a slew of internationally renowned awards including the Ivor Novello, Grammy and BASCAP Awards, as well being appointed\u00a0OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire)<\/strong>\u00a0for his contributions to music and charity.<\/p>\n

Over the years he has contributed to countless\u00a0number 1<\/strong>\u00a0 hit singles and records in the UK and beyond;\u00a0 including\u00a0Silk<\/strong>‘s ‘Forever & Ever<\/em><\/strong>‘ (which managed to beat out\u00a0ABBA<\/strong>‘s ‘Mama Mia<\/em><\/strong>‘ on Valentines day in 1976);\u00a0seven consecutive top 10 UK albums over 6 years<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0Ultravox<\/strong>;\u00a0Visage<\/strong>‘s ‘Fade To Grey<\/em><\/strong>‘ which hit number 8 in the UK and number 1 in Germany; his own solo number 1 hit ‘If I Was<\/em><\/strong>‘ and UK Number 2 album ‘The Gift<\/em><\/strong>‘ in 1984; and of course the legendary 1984 Band Aid single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>which has sold over\u00a012 million copies<\/strong>\u00a0since its release in\u00a01984<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Outside of the studio – Midge has worked as a musical director for legendary concerts such as\u00a0The Prince’s Trust<\/strong>,\u00a0Night of the Proms<\/strong>,\u00a0Wicked Women for Breakthrough<\/strong>, and\u00a0In Honour Of Nelson Mandela;\u00a0<\/strong>performed alongside the likes of\u00a0Phil Collins<\/strong>,\u00a0Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sir Paul McCartney<\/strong>\u00a0for the\u00a0Music for Montserrat<\/strong>\u00a0benefit in 1997 and was a driving force behind the legendary 2005\u00a0Live 8\u00a0<\/strong>Concert which featured just about every major performer from across the globe.<\/p>\n
