\"\"<\/a>It\u2019s been far far far too long since Drowning Pool and Alien Ant Farm have been in Australia. So tonight will be nostalgia overload and I can\u2019t wait. <\/span><\/p>\n

Frankenbox open the show to a room that is starting to fill up very quickly and that\u2019s a great sign for what\u2019s to come. These guys are heavy, and with a new EP out they\u2019re well worth a listen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Drowning Pool<\/strong> take to the stage and open with \u2018Sinner\u2019 and this place is now packed and so many are here for these guys and it\u2019s amazing to see. What a way to open and what a return to Sydney. \u2018Enemy\u2019 is up next and they are killing it. As the drums ring in \u2018Step Up\u2019 hearing this live again is a treat and what a perfect song for this environment as the crowd are warmed up and this really got them going. \u2018One Finger and a Fist\u2019 keeps that intensity up and allows CJ to shred a little which was awesome. \u201837 Stitches\u2019 slows things down for the first time tonight and the crowd groove along to this slower one before they kick straight into a cover of the classic Billy Idol track \u2018Rebel Yell\u2019 which gets the crowd warmed up even more. I love an unexpected cover and with the crowd yelling \u201cmore more more\u201d back to the stage the band have them. That was great. Having Ryan back on vocals in the band is perfect and he killed that!!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Feel Like I Do\u2019 keeps things rockin\u2019 as it should as that\u2019s a big one from their catalogue and then as \u2018Sermon\u2019 rings in that was awesome, as was \u2018Tear Away\u2019 which lit the place up with lighters and phones as this big one takes its place in the set. Hearing the crowd yell that back to the stage was so good. Up next is another unexpected cover and holy shit the place just went off \u2018Cowboys From Hell\u2019 and what a crazy thing that was and they nailed it. That was so good. Closing the set the only way they could with \u2018Bodies\u2019, the song we all know and the one that they put their all into. It\u2019s a huge song and hearing it played this well was damn good. <\/span><\/p>\n

Drowning Pool welcome back to Australia, that was awesome. <\/span><\/p>\n

Alien Ant Farm<\/strong>, let\u2019s go!!! Wasting no time and immediately into \u2018Courage\u2019 wow they sound amazing and you can tell everyone is happy to have them back as the crowd erupts. Time for \u2018Wish\u2019 which I was hoping to hear but this early is outstanding. Damn. This is great. Staying down memory lane with \u2018Flesh and Bone\u2019 is just cementing to me how good this band is and the fact they haven\u2019t been here in so long is criminal. Not even a smooth one, I mean actually criminal. Taking us to their newest album \u2018Mantras\u2019 we get the opener \u2018The Wrong Things\u2019 and the fact they\u2019re still making music this good is the best. But from the new straight back to the old with \u2018Movies\u2019 and what a song. Easily the biggest reception of the night thus far. Man that was great to hear live as it\u2019s been far too long between versions. \u2018These Days\u2019 keeps their bangers coming and you almost forget how good these songs are and it\u2019s worthy of being ashamed of for forgetting. An excellent outro sets up the next one and I\u2019m here to say actually probably one of the best songs of the bands catalogue. \u2018Last dAntz\u2019 is where\u2019s it at and that was excellent. That\u2019s a groove for sure. As is \u2018Attitude\u2019 taking us back to Anthology then \u2018Stranded\u2019 which was a standout of the night. What a track. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Glow\u2019 got a great reaction followed by the eternal question \u2018What am I Doing\u2019 taking us back to Mantras then staying there with \u2018Storms Over\u2019 and these new songs really are so good. \u2018Sticks and Stones\u2019 flips us back and rounds out the main part of the set. And without a long wait we get them back on stage and \u2018What I Feel Is Mine\u2019 and then of course closing the set the only way they could, with \u2018Smooth Criminal\u2019 and you know that\u2019s what everyone was here for and they delivered. I could say that maybe 98% of the room were introduced to Alien Ant Farm through that song and they were all happy tonight. <\/span><\/p>\n

My name\u2019s not Annie but one thing I can tell you is after tonight\u2019s show and these two sets from these bands, I am most definitely OK.<\/span><\/p>\n
