New Year\u2019s party atmosphere around. After an amazing year in 2010, which was heralded by many punters as our<\/p>\n

best yet, we\u2019re hoping you can help us make Pyramid Rock 2011 even better!<\/p>\n

We know you\u2019re all just itching to find out who\u2019s playing at this year\u2019s festival, so without any further ado, we present<\/p>\n

you with the first line-up of acts\u2026<\/p>\n

\n

If pop music had a curfew,\u00a0SCISSOR SISTERS<\/strong>\u00a0would be the band sneaking out the window while their parents were<\/p>\n

asleep. For nearly a decade the New York collective \u2013 led by the enigmatic Jake Shears and Ana Matronic \u2013 have<\/p>\n

been pushing the boundaries not only of pop music, but of what it means to be a pop star. They\u2019ve got more hits<\/p>\n

than most bands have songs, they\u2019ve collaborated with everyone from Kylie Minogue to The Muppets and guess<\/p>\n

what? They\u2019re headlining the Pyramid Rock Festival in 2011! Watch out, this one could get sticky!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the day they burst onto Melbourne\u2019s underground rock circuit in the late \u201890s, it\u2019s been a long and steady rise<\/p>\n

to the top for\u00a0THE LIVING END<\/strong>. Over the course of their six albums the Aussie rock icons have never put a foot wrong.<\/p>\n

The latest stride in their awe-inspiring career is\u00a0The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating<\/em>, an album that delivers the<\/p>\n

most honest representation of the band yet. Honesty has never been a problem for The Living End at the Pyramid Rock<\/p>\n

Festival, and in 2011 they\u2019ll be putting on yet another display of raucous rock energy.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GOTYE<\/strong>\u00a0is destined to finish 2011 on a high note, and that\u2019s not only because he\u2019ll be gracing the Pyramid Rock main<\/p>\n

stage in front of a massive crowd of adoring fans. Having already gone platinum with his surprise #1 smash hit<\/p>\n

Somebody That I Used To Know<\/em>, you get the feeling it won\u2019t be the last time Gotye is lavished with precious metals<\/p>\n

before the end of the year. His third album\u00a0Making Mirrors<\/em>\u00a0has only just been released and will surely catapult<\/p>\n

Wally de Backer into the next echelon of superstardom.<\/p>\n

Legend. Innovator. Icon. They\u2019re all apt descriptors but they barely come close to encapsulating\u00a0GRANDMASTER FLASH<\/strong>\u2019s<\/p>\n

enduring musical legacy. From pioneering the use of turntables as an instrument on their own, to helping elevate rap music<\/p>\n

to the global stage with ubiquitous hits like\u00a0The Message<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0White Lines<\/em>, the man born Joseph Saddler more or less IS hip<\/p>\n

hop. His very special appearance at the Pyramid Rock Festival is not only a must-see for hip hop devotees, but anyone who<\/p>\n

Taking out triple j\u2019s Unearthed J Award, globe-trotting with Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons and lighting up<\/p>\n

stages at festivals all around the world \u2013 it\u2019s all in a day\u2019s work for Sydney\u2019s\u00a0BOY & BEAR<\/strong>. Come New Year\u2019s they\u2019ll<\/p>\n

be bringing the rootsy rhythms and country-fried tunes of their recently released debut album\u00a0Moonfire<\/em>\u00a0to thousands<\/p>\n

at the Pyramid Rock Festival. It\u2019s a tough job, but someone\u2019s gotta do it!<\/p>\n

After putting in years of hard yards,\u00a0DRAPHT<\/strong>\u00a0is finally living the life of Riley. At least that\u2019s how it seems since<\/p>\n

he released his fourth album\u00a0The Life Of Riley<\/em>.\u00a0<\/em>Debuting at #1 on the ARIA charts, picking up a J Award<\/p>\n

nomination and smashing it on the radio with tracks like\u00a0Rapunzel<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Bali Party<\/em>, the Perth MC has been<\/p>\n

lapping it up in 2011. Following a massive headline tour later this year, Drapht will arrive at Pyramid Rock<\/p>\n

With an endless bag of Aussie rock staples from\u00a0Buy Me A Pony<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0Calypso<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Black Betty<\/em>,\u00a0SPIDERBAIT<\/strong>\u00a0have<\/p>\n

been leading the pack for far too many years to remember. And now, following a lengthy hiatus, Kram, Janet<\/p>\n

and Damian are getting the band back together to celebrate Spiderbait\u2019s 21st<\/sup>\u00a0birthday at the Pyramid Rock Festival!<\/p>\n

Is it too soon to start holding our collective breaths for their first new album since 2004\u2019s\u00a0Tonight Alright<\/em>?<\/p>\n

CLOUD CONTROL<\/strong>\u00a0recorded their all-conquering debut album\u00a0Bliss Release<\/em>\u00a0in their native Blue Mountains<\/p>\n

THE PANICS<\/strong>\u00a0are fast emerging as the greatest story tellers in Australian pop rock. Or have they passed that<\/p>\n

point already? On latest album\u00a0Rain On The Humming Wire<\/em>\u00a0the adopted Melbournians open up about their inner<\/p>\n

workings, reflecting on the past and looking towards a brighter future. Sounds like the perfect band to make a<\/p>\n

Herd will be painting Philip Island a distinct shade of awesome when they hit up Pyramid Rock this New Year\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Fuzzed up to the max and dripping in West Coast cool,\u00a0DUM DUM GIRLS<\/strong>\u00a0announce their Australian live debut<\/p>\n

as part of the 2011 Pyramid Rock Festival. The all-girl group led by the appropriately Ramones-esque Dee Dee<\/p>\n

have a fond ear for sounds of the past. Sifting through the anarchic, oestrogen-fuelled punk flavours of The Slits<\/p>\n

and The Shangri-Las, Dum Dum Girls manage to smash out their energetic garage rock with a surprisingly fresh<\/p>\n

feel. They are not to be missed!<\/p>\n

It gives us great pleasure to announce that\u00a0ILLY<\/strong>\u00a0is backing up last year\u2019s blistering Pyramid Rock triumph with<\/p>\n

a victory lap in 2011. Still reeling from the success of his 2010 sophomore effort\u00a0The Chase<\/em>, the Melbourne<\/p>\n

MC simply cannot get enough of the summer sun on Phillip Island. Returning with even more fan favourites in his<\/p>\n

arsenal, Illy is out to prove once again why he\u2019s one of the most talked about names in Australian hip hop.<\/p>\n

\n

For nearly 20 years\u00a0SALMONELLA DUB<\/strong>\u00a0have been carving out a musical path that few have dared to follow.<\/p>\n

With their unique mix of dub, electronica, reggae, rock and drum \u2018n\u2019 bass, this legendary Kiwi collective have<\/p>\n

conquered festival stages, club rooms and dance halls everywhere from Brisbane to Brussels. Rightfully earning<\/p>\n

a reputation as one of the most captivating and dynamic live acts in the world, Salmonella Dub will be making<\/p>\n

us all sick with their infectious dance beats this year at the Pyramid Rock Festival.<\/p>\n

\n

The inclusion of pop chameleon\u00a0BERTIE BLACKMAN<\/strong>\u00a0on the 2011 Pyramid Rock line-up has got us excited.<\/p>\n

Drifting from folk to rock to electronica over her three-album career, Bertie has proved she is one of the<\/p>\n

most unique and multi-talented artists in the Australian musical landscape. The Sydney girl will be dipping<\/p>\n

into her impressive back catalogue of diverse musical stylings this year at Pyramid Rock, as well as previewing<\/p>\n

some new materiall from her upcoming fourth album. We wait with bated breath to hear what it sounds like!<\/p>\n

\n

There are prospects, prodigies, whiz kids, wunderkinder\u2026and then there\u2019s\u00a0JONATHAN BOULET<\/strong>. At the tender<\/p>\n

age of 21 Jonathan wrote, produced and played all the instruments on his self-titled debut record. The following<\/p>\n

year he did pretty much the same with his other band Parades, and managed to come up with a cracking single<\/p>\n

of his own in\u00a0You\u2019re A Animal<\/em>\u00a0AND found time to work with The Holidays, Megastick Fanfare and Kyu. The guy has<\/p>\n

one gear: GO! and he\u2019ll be doing just that at Pyramid Rock in 2011.<\/p>\n

\n

Tour veteran and festival junkie\u00a0ASH GRUNWALD<\/strong>\u00a0will be rolling back into Pyramid Rock in 2011 in typical<\/p>\n

carefree style. Capping off a massive year that saw him release his fifth and most adventurous album to date<\/p>\n

Hot Mama Vibes<\/em>, there are few who embody the laid back and fun-loving atmosphere of Pyramid Rock like this<\/p>\n

blues maestro. No doubt there\u2019ll be plenty of fans vibing to his tunes this New Year\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\n

Newcomer to the Pyramid Rock fold, LA\u2019s\u00a0HANNI EL KHATIB<\/strong>\u00a0is sure to be a name on everyone\u2019s lips come the<\/p>\n

year\u2019s end. The son of Palestinian and Filipino migrants, Hanni describes his gritty mix of soul, garage rock and<\/p>\n

\u201860s R&B as \u201cknife fight music\u201d. Keeping with the weaponry theme, Hanni\u2019s debut album \u2013 due for release this<\/p>\n

September \u2013 is titled\u00a0Will The Guns Come Out<\/em>. His set at Pyramid Rock is gonna go off with a bang!<\/p>\n

\n

Widely regarded as one of Australia\u2019s finest funk and soul outfits,\u00a0THE BAMBOOS<\/strong>\u00a0have wowed global audiences<\/p>\n

with their lively and energetic shows and perfectly constructed studio albums for nigh on a decade now. Last year<\/p>\n

the Melbourne eight-piece released their fourth album\u00a04<\/em>\u00a0and toured relentlessly around the globe. In 2011 they<\/p>\n

return to Philip Island a more honed and internationally acclaimed outfit than ever before.<\/p>\n

\n

There are few bands as hard working (or rocking!) as Melbourne\u2019s own\u00a0CALLING ALL CARS<\/strong>. Their new album is<\/p>\n

Dancing With A Dead Man<\/em>\u00a0and it\u2019s a monster! Shattering all notions of the so-called second album syndrome,<\/p>\n

Calling All Cars have taken their game to another level with their triple j-featured second album. See what all<\/p>\n

With a once-in-a-lifetime voice and talent to burn,\u00a0GRACE WOODROOFE<\/strong>\u00a0has a long and no doubt successful<\/p>\n

career ahead of her. Plucked from obscurity by the late Heath Ledger, who flew her to LA to record with<\/p>\n

none other than Ben Harper at the age of 16, Grace\u2019s sultry blues style hasn\u2019t taken long to click with her<\/p>\n

quickly growing fan base. Still only 21, this Perth girl is set make quite the impression at the 2011 Pyramid<\/p>\n

Rock Festival.<\/p>\n

Hammers, chains and washboards aren\u2019t exactly your everyday musical instruments, but then again<\/p>\n

GRAVEYARD TRAIN<\/strong>\u00a0aren\u2019t exactly a conventional band. Their mix of swampy blues, beat-down country<\/p>\n

and tortured folk \u2013 infused with their trademark mad and macabre motifs \u2013 seems to appeal to everyone<\/p>\n

from the potato farmer to the punk rocker. A wild, bumpy and often frightening ride \u2013 it\u2019s all aboard the<\/p>\n

Graveyard Train for Pyramid Rock 2011!<\/p>\n

Providing the feel good synth pop vibes at this year\u2019s Pyramid Rock Festival will be\u00a0TIM & JEAN<\/strong>. One of<\/p>\n

triple j Unearthed High\u2019s impossibly talented alumni, the Perth duo have gone from strength to strength<\/p>\n

since they were first discovered in 2009. This year saw them produce their debut album\u00a0Like What<\/em>, a<\/p>\n

carefree but assured release brimming with synthy goodness. They might only be young, but these guys<\/p>\n

have the goods and will be putting them on show at Pyramid Rock.<\/p>\n

The #1 DJs in the country\u00a0THE ASTON SHUFFLE<\/strong>\u00a0will be bringing their party stylings to Pyramid Rock in<\/p>\n

2011. Last year was massive for the Canberra dance duo, who released a damn fine debut album in<\/p>\n

Seventeen Past Midnight<\/em>, helped redefine the traditional role of the DJ with an ambitious live show<\/p>\n

and \u2013 best of all \u2013 took out the Holy Grail of Australian dance music: the inthemix50 poll. We are<\/p>\n

already salivating!<\/em><\/p>\n

Recently in the country for a quick-fire east coast tour,\u00a0JIM WARD<\/strong>\u00a0is returning Down Under with the<\/p>\n

Pyramid Rock Festival in his sights. A man once synonymous with loud noises and political angst in<\/p>\n

previous outfits At The Drive In and Sparta, Jim has found solace with a defter touch on his just<\/p>\n

released debut solo album\u00a0Quiet In The Valley, On The Shores The End Begins<\/em>\u00a0(really a collection of<\/p>\n

EPs, but who\u2019s keeping score?).\u00a0 Jim Ward is in love with Australia. Suffice to say the feeling is mutual.<\/p>\n

Sydney hip hop crew\u00a0THUNDAMENTALS<\/strong>\u00a0have really come into their own on new album\u00a0Foreverlution<\/em>,<\/p>\n

and they\u2019ll be coming into Phillip Island this New Year\u2019s Eve to celebrate. The party-starting three-piece<\/p>\n

will arrive at the Pyramid Rock Festival in fine form, after they open for hip hop heavyweight (figuratively<\/p>\n

speaking) Big Boi on his 2011 Australian tour. Catch the boys dropping massive tunes like\u00a0Paint The Town<\/em><\/p>\n

Red<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Move It Up<\/em>\u00a0at Pyramid Rock. You\u2019ll be thunda struck!<\/em><\/p>\n

Gracing the Pyramid Rock stage last year alongside\u00a0It Can Wait\u00a0<\/em>collaborator Illy,\u00a0OWL EYES<\/strong>\u00a0has graduated<\/p>\n

to play her very own set in 2011. The dream pop princess has had a dream run in 2011, releasing her beautifully<\/p>\n

crafted sophomore EP\u00a0Raiders<\/em>\u00a0to much critical acclaim as well as touring with indie kings The Wombats<\/p>\n

and Darwin Deez. Find out why the scarily talented 20-year-old can\u2019t stop raiding us at Pyramid Rock.<\/p>\n

Channelling the long lost spirits of Australian pop icons of yore,\u00a0SPLIT SECONDS<\/strong>\u00a0make a welcome Pyramid<\/p>\n

Rock debut in 2011 with their jangly, vocally-driven indie pop paragons. Armed with radio favourites\u00a0All You<\/em><\/p>\n

Gotta Do<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Bed Down<\/em>, the Perth collective look set to make quite the impression this festival season ahead<\/p>\n

of the release of an anticipated debut album in 2012. First stop: Pyramid Rock!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no French horn in\u00a0FRENCH HORN REBELLION<\/strong>, but there are two crazy, party-loving brothers from<\/p>\n

Wisconsin by the names Robert and David Perlick-Molinari. Their style is varied, their manners are<\/p>\n

impeccable, and they might just own the finest threads in the lower east side! But more importantly, their<\/p>\n

2010 album\u00a0The Infinite Music Of The French Horn Rebellion<\/em>\u00a0is chock-full of contagious dancefloor beats and<\/p>\n

they\u2019ll be turning your world upside down and all around this year at the Pyramid Rock Festival.<\/p>\n

As a special treat for early bird ticket holders, the team at\u00a0ROCKWIZ<\/strong>\u00a0will be taking over the Pharaoh\u2019s Annex<\/p>\n

on Pyramid Rock eve (Thu Dec 29). Julia Zemiro, Brian Nankervis and the RocKwiz Orkestra are putting on<\/p>\n

an extra special festival show featuring all the madcap hysterics and special guest stars of the TV show. So<\/p>\n

who\u2019ll be appearing on the RocKwiz panel at the Pyramid Rock Festival? Well you\u2019ll just have to wait and see\u2026<\/p>\n

As already announced, Pyramid will once again be rolling out in its favourite format, which includes free<\/p>\n

camping for all tickets and the ever popular early arrival 3-Day Pass. The 3-Day Pass allows punters to arrive<\/p>\n

and set up a day early on Thu Dec 29. This year those lucky enough to secure the limited release 3-Day Pass will<\/p>\n

get to see the incredible RocKwiz Live show taking place on Thu Dec 29, and as usual take in movies on the big<\/p>\n

screen under the stars.<\/p>\n

\n

2-Day passes will also be available, giving punters access to the entire band line-up starting on Fri Dec 30.<\/p>\n

Bands kick off from 10am each day and play until the wee hours of the morning.<\/p>\n

More good news on the ticketing front, prices have remained the same as last year! With the festival returning<\/p>\n

after its best year yet and with this year\u2019s staggering first announcement, tickets are not expected to last long.<\/p>\n

And lastly, 2011 will unfortunately be the last year punters under the age of 18 can come to Pyramid Rock. The<\/p>\n

event is currently a licensed all ages festival and you can attend THIS year if you are 16+. Those under the age<\/p>\n

of 16 will, however, need to be accompanied by a parent\/guardian. Pyramid Rock Festival intends to operate<\/p>\n

for many years into the future, delivering the best possible acts to Phillip Island, and plans to do so working in<\/p>\n

conjunction with liquor licensing requirements.<\/p>\n
