Queens of the Stone Age<\/strong>\u00a0have announced their long-awaited 8th studio album,\u00a0In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0out\u00a0June 16th\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0Matador\u00a0<\/strong>\/\u00a0Remote Control Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart. And yet, it\u2019s perhaps the most beautiful and definitely the most rewarding album in their epic discography. Founder\u00a0Joshua Homme’s<\/strong>\u00a0most acerbic lyrics to date are buoyed by the instantly identifiable\u00a0QOTSA\u00a0<\/strong>sonic signature, expanded and embellished with new and unprecedented twists in virtually every song. With\u00a0In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0we see that sometimes one needs to look beneath scars and scabs to see beauty, and sometimes the scabs and scars are the beauty.

Feeling a bit out of place, and having difficulty finding music they could relate to, the members of\u00a0QOTSA\u00a0<\/strong>did as they are wont to do:\u00a0In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is the sound of a band creating the music its own members want to hear, while giving the rest of us a sonic forum in which to congregate.\u00a0\u201cThe world\u2019s gonna end in a month or two<\/em>,” sings\u00a0Homme<\/strong>, begging the question: What do you want to do\u00a0with the time you\u2019ve got left?\u00a0Homme<\/strong>,\u00a0Troy Van Leeuwen<\/strong>,\u00a0Dean Fertita<\/strong>,\u00a0Michael Shuman<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jon Theodore<\/strong>\u00a0may not be able to save us, but they\u2019re giving us a place to ride it out.<\/p>\n

The first offering from\u00a0In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0‘Emotion Sickness<\/strong>,‘<\/strong>\u00a0which wraps listeners in a warm blanket of patented\u00a0QOTSA\u00a0<\/strong>hypnotic choruses and off kilter grooves\u2014punctuated by tinges of psychic turbulence. The past few years have been tough on everyone, and it\u2019s no secret the members of\u00a0QOTSA\u00a0<\/strong>have endured their share of heartbreak and loss. But whom amongst us hasn\u2019t dealt with a recent bout (or two) of emotion sickness? A\u00a0Liam Lynch<\/strong>\u00a0created lyric video for\u00a0‘Emotion Sickness’<\/strong>\u00a0premieres tomorrow evening on\u00a0QOTSA\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>YouTube channel. In Times New Roman…<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was recorded and mixed at\u00a0Homme\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>own Pink Duck (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by\u00a0Queens of the Stone Age<\/strong>\u00a0and mixed by\u00a0Mark Rankin<\/strong>. The album will be available across all digital platforms and on vinyl and CD on\u00a0June 16th<\/strong>. Artwork and double LP gatefold packaging designed by long time collaborator\u00a0Boneface<\/strong>. LP vinyl will be available globally in black, green, red, silver and blue.<\/p>\n
