Since their\u00a0Julian Casablancas<\/strong>-produced\u00a02016 LP\u00a0<\/strong>City Club<\/strong>, The Growlers have racked up legions of passionate fans around the globe, amassing\u00a0200 million Spotify streams<\/strong>,\u00a01.2 million monthly listeners<\/strong>, and\u00a075 million YouTube streams<\/strong>. The band\u2019s success has been years in the making, fuelled by a non-stop flow of new material, always-on fan interaction on\u00a0social media<\/a>, and their epic live shows, with audiences singing along to every gloriously twisted lyric.\u00a0The Growlers sixth studio album\u00a0Natural Affair<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is set for a release later in 2019 via the band\u2019s own\u00a0Beach Goth Records and Tapes<\/strong>, destined for the dancefloor, the bedroom, and the festival stage.<\/p>\n

The Growlers\u2019 new single\u00a0Natural Affair<\/em><\/strong>, self-produced by singer\u00a0Brooks Nielsen<\/strong>\u00a0and guitaristMatt Taylor<\/strong>, continues the band\u2019s exploration of the vibier, seedier side of new wave funk. Bursting with chorused guitars and syncopated percussion, the track was inspired during sessions for their new\u00a0LP\u00a0<\/strong>Natural Affair<\/strong>. \u201cA lot of our songs were coming out on the darker, more sentimental side, so we decided to make something more upbeat,\u201d says Taylor. \u201cWe all took a break, watched a documentary on Spandau Ballet, and wrote this riff that sounds a bit like \u2018The Groove Line\u2019 by Heatwave. More disco and energetic, just trying to keep it funky.\u201d It\u2019s the first track off\u00a0Natural Affair.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No strangers to our golden coastline, the band were in\u00a0Australia<\/strong>\u00a0earlier in 2019 for their Summer east coast headline tour which included sold-out shows at\u00a0The Forum<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0The Metro<\/strong>\u00a0and were joined onstage by long-time friend, collaborator and honorary Growler,\u00a0Kirin J Callinan<\/strong>\u00a0for the full run of dates.<\/p>\n

Cutting across\u00a0seven<\/strong>\u00a0countries and\u00a054 dates<\/strong>,\u00a0The Growlers 2019 World Tour\u00a0<\/strong>just kicked off with sold-out shows in Phoenix, Denver, Toronto, Montreal, Asbury Park and Ogden, Utah, where the band shared the stage with\u00a0The Flaming Lips<\/strong>. The tour includes stops at NYC\u2019s Central Park SummerStage on September 14 with support from indie legends\u00a0The Lemonheads<\/strong>, as well as shows in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and the sold-out Green Man Festival in the UK alongside\u00a0Idles<\/strong>,\u00a0Sharon Van Etten<\/strong>, and\u00a0Father John Misty<\/strong>. This year the band hosts their annual\u00a0Beach Goth<\/strong>\u00a0event as a three-night Halloween party at the legendary\u00a0Hollywood Palladium<\/strong>, featuring extended performances, surprises and special guests. Due to popular demand, the third night (11\/2) has just been added.<\/p>\n
