\"\"<\/a>With one foot dragging through the hazy past and the other dangling over the precipice of bad decisions,\u00a0<\/span>Polish Club<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0welcomes you to their\u00a0<\/span>second album,<\/strong>\u00a0Iguana<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/a>\u00a0The long-awaited follow-up to their dashing debut arrives\u00a0<\/span>June 7<\/strong>, armed with some surprisingly different sonic weaponry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>To commemorate,\u00a0\u00a0Polish Club will tour the nation on a series of\u00a0capital city and regional dates this June and July.

\nNamed in part for the infamous Kings Cross bar, where the only guaranteed upside was ending your night facedown, the Sydney duo\u2019s hard-won sophomore suite boasts a more expansive, adventurous sound already showcased on lead\u00a0singles\u00a0<\/span>Clarity<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and\u00a0<\/span>We Don\u2019t Care<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em>

\n\u201cHaving been in this band for five\u00a0years, I think there\u2019s less time for us to faff about. That\u2019s why we put heaps of pressure on evolving the sound; we haven\u2019t got time to bang out three similar albums,\u201d says drummer John-Henry. \u201cIt\u2019s the tightrope of doing what you do best and what attracted people to you in the first place, but expanding it and not rehashing old habits,\u201d adds singer\/guitarist Novak.<\/span><\/p>\n

With\u00a0<\/span>sold-out national tours,<\/strong>\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>triple j Hottest 100 single\u00a0<\/strong>(<\/span>Clarity<\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>#76<\/strong>) and a blossoming European fanbase, Polish Club had a banner year in 2018. So it stands to reason that they\u2019d do a number on themselves, pushing their band to breaking point on a record that wrangles their expansive influences and crunches them down through sophisticated slabs of sound. \u201cI never understood why bands struggle with second albums,\u201d admits John-Henry. \u201cBut now I totally get it.\u201d<\/span>

\nThis endurance test is echoed across the record\u2019s searing 12 tracks, which once again utilise the dual talents of longtime producer, bass player and honorary third Polish Club member, Wade Keighran, helping the pair realise their wildest pop fantasies from within the confines of a rock and roll band.<\/span><\/p>\n

Further proof in the pudding comes by way of the\u00a0band\u2019s latest video\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0<\/a><\/span>We Don\u2019t Care<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0Recorded in a karaoke bar, the clip features a live vocal take from Novak as he gleefully approaches the band\u2019s own track with the zealousness of an inebriated also-ran.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
