Sun Kil Moon\u00a0announces he will be returning to Australia in May for a very special tour which will be taking in a range of iconic theatres, intimate spaces as well as remarkable, off the beaten path venues. The tour begins\u00a0Wednesday, May 15\u00a0at the recently reopened\u00a0Espy\u00a0in Melbourne before making its way to Meeniyan Town Hall, Theatre Royal\u00a0in\u00a0Castlemaine, the\u00a0Thornbury Theatre\u00a0and then up the east coast to the\u00a0Lansdowne\u00a0in\u00a0Sydney\u00a0and\u00a0The Old Museum\u00a0in\u00a0Brisbane.<\/p>\n

On the cusp of seventeen years after\u00a0Mark Kozolek’s\u00a0Red House Painters\u00a0disbanded, Sun Kil Moon continues to command a firm reputation for prolific, profound recorded output and exemplary live capabilities.\u00a0The Guardian\u00a0hailed Sun Kil Moon’s live offering “utterly magnificent”,\u00a0Brooklyn Vegan declaring it “one of the most surprising and fulfilling show-going experiences I’ve had in years.”<\/p>\n

Armed with an arsenal of recorded material spanning eight studio albums under the Sun Kil Moon moniker, beginning with 2003’s\u00a0Ghosts Of The Great Highway.\u00a0Kozelek sound has evolved drastically over the last two decades including 2014’s\u00a0astonishing stand-out LP\u00a0Benji\u00a0(including much loved tracks\u00a0‘Ben’s My Friend’\u00a0and\u00a0‘Carissa’)\u00a0which garnered widespread critical acclaim and a legion of die-hard fans.<\/p>\n

In what has been a truly extraordinary 12 months, the San Francisco based singer-songwriter has extensively toured the globe and added two more releases to his celebrated and extensive catalogue. A self-titled solo album as well as his ninth studio album under the Sun Kil Moon moniker\u00a0‘This Is My Dinner’,\u00a0which includes the epic, nine minute album opener\u00a0\u00a0‘This Is Not Possible’\u00a0featuring his trademark brand of laid back, no holds barred, storytelling.<\/p>\n

Kozelek has announced the release of multiple projects this year. A new Sun Kil Moon album due out March 1, entitled\u00a0‘I Also Want to Die in New Orleans.’\u00a0As well as a 6-song full length album featuring artists Petra Haden, Jason Lindner, Kevin Corrigan, Steve Shelley, Donny McCaslin, Ben Boye, and “other great talents.”<\/p>\n
