In 1991, Strong was introduced to the world through his portrayal of\u00a0Declan “Deco” Cuffe<\/b>, lead vocalist of fictional Irish soul\u00a0band THE COMMITMENTS<\/b>\u00a0from the film of the same name. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the award-winning film, Strong will be returning to Australia to perform the classic soundtrack in full.<\/p>\n

After the film, Strong would go on to pursue his career as a singer songwriter, eventually\u00a0<\/span>returning to where it all began years later, performing the film\u2019s hits\u00a0<\/span>\u201cMustang Sally\u201d, \u201cTry A\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Little Tenderness\u201d, \u201cChain of Fools\u201d, \u201cTake Me To The River\u201d, \u201cIn the Midnight Hour<\/i><\/b>\u201d plus\u00a0<\/span>More.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Dubliner’s throaty howl lent a raw edge to proceedings, and his charismatic presence kept the audience’s energy levels high.\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0– Belfast Times<\/b><\/p>\n

Following the trials and tribulations of vocalist\u00a0Deco<\/b>, his band and their starry-eyed manager\u00a0Jimmy Rabbitte.<\/b>THE COMMITMENTS<\/b>was released to critical acclaim (Collecting 4\u00a0BAFTA<\/b>\u2019s) with the sound track selling over 12 million copies. Andrew was nominated for a\u00a0BAFTA AWARD<\/b>\u00a0for Best Supporting Role and also for a Grammy for his Contribution in The Commitments.<\/span><\/p>\n

A huge commercial success in its own right,\u00a0THE COMMITMENTS<\/b>\u00a0soundtrack spent 51 weeks in the ARIA Top 40 peaking at #1. Since announcing plans to mark 25 years since the first performing the music, Strong has sold out venues all over the world, testament to the impact the film, and music, had on the world.<\/p>\n
