\nBIGSOUND Festival <\/strong>2017\u2019s first artist announcement has exploded today, with over 60 acts<\/strong> making up the initial list of Australia\u2019s hottest musicians heading to Brisbane\u2019s Fortitude Valley live music precinct this September 5-8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2016 saw 7000 people from around the world converge on Brisbane to surf the next wave of Australian music, with the 2017 event sure to be even bigger. \u00a0This first announce overflows with names on the lips of A&R across the globe, including Winston Surfshirt<\/strong>, Hatchie<\/strong>, Alex the Astronaut<\/strong>, Polaris<\/strong>, Mansionair<\/strong> and Ruby Fields<\/strong>, as well as return BIGSOUND visitors Hockey Dad<\/strong>, Mama Kin<\/strong> and The Creases<\/strong>. BIGSOUND 2017<\/strong> is destined to continue its legacy of building international careers and audiences for emerging and established Australian acts.<\/p>\n

As in each of BIGSOUND<\/strong>\u2019s previous 15 incarnations, there\u2019s something for everyone. The festival reaches across the genres, welcoming everyone from dance floor lordsTotal Giovanni<\/strong> to future hip hop star Baker Boy<\/strong>, electronic breakouts Haiku Hands<\/strong>and instrumental soulsters The Cactus Channel<\/strong>. The festival\u2019s international reach also continues to grow in 2017, with the UK\u2019s Splashh<\/strong> and New Zealand Critic\u2019s Choice prize winners Bespin<\/strong> heading down under to join the festival.<\/p>\n

The latest BIGSOUND<\/strong> cohort are eligible for a share of this year\u2019s $100,000 Levi\u2019s\u00a0Music Prize<\/strong> and join the now prestigious list of BIGSOUND<\/strong> alumni who have used the event to launch international careers including: Flume<\/strong>, Courtney Barnett<\/strong>,RUFUS<\/strong>, Tash Sultana<\/strong>, The Jezabels<\/strong>, Middle Kids<\/strong>, Seth Sentry<\/strong>, Gang of Youths<\/strong>,DMA<\/strong>s, Kingswood<\/strong>, The Temper Trap<\/strong>, DZ Deathrays<\/strong>, Ball Park Music<\/strong>, San Cisco<\/strong>,Boy & Bear<\/strong>, A.B. Original<\/strong>, Methyl Ethel<\/strong> and many more.<\/p>\n

This year, BIGSOUND<\/strong> gives each act the opportunity to play twice<\/strong>, expanding the live music experience across four big nights on September 5 -8<\/strong> to ensure punters and industry get multiple chances to check out the artists that get the most chatter acrossBIGSOUND<\/strong> week.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s most discerning tribe of true new music aficionados will make their annual pilgrimage to Brisbane to sample the talent playing across the Valley\u2019s 17 festival venues. Artists will also get to showcase in front of international and national music industry heavyweights including Quentin Tarantino\u2019s music supervisor Mary Ramos<\/strong>, A&R from labels including Domino, Sub Pop, Ninja Tune, Trouble In Mind, 4AD and Communion, as well as agents and promoters including Belmont Bookings, ATC Live, Goldenvoice, Rock City and many more still to be announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
