From release: American rock band TRAPT are heading down under for their first ever Tour this July. Since forming in 1997 TRAPT have released 7 studio Albums and sold over 2.5 million records worldwide including platinum selling single \u2018Headstrong\u2019. With a set list filled with fan favourites like \u2018Headstrong\u2019, \u2018Bring It\u2019, \u2018Who\u2019s Going Home With You tonight?\u2019, \u2018Echo\u2019s\u2019, \u2018These Walls\u2019 and \u2019Still Frame\u2019 this tour is a dream to those who have been patiently waiting years for the bands highly anticipated live show to hit Australian shores.<\/p>\n

While in New York on part of his acoustic tour we gave Trapt singer Chris Brown a call to talk about the band\u2019s upcoming first tour to Australia, changes, touring, and much more.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re finally heading to Australia! How pumped are you to finally be heading Down Under?<\/strong>
\nOh I\u2019m so happy, our fans over there for so many years they\u2019ve wanted us to come over there and I can\u2019t believe no promoters asked us to come over, so we\u2019ve going over there and we\u2019re doing a show for our US Troops over there in Okinawa so we thought we may as well go over to Australia because we\u2019re kind of in the neighbourhood a little bit, and just called around and saw who wanted to make some offers on bringing us over there and we found a promoter and he\u2019s pretty happy as first day tickets went on sale it went crazy so he\u2019s very happy and we\u2019ll be sticking with him going forward whenever we come to Australia.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re coming to a territory for the first time how do you go about structuring a set list?<\/strong>
\nOh man, we just try to come up with the songs we feel the fans want to hear the most, and ones that we\u2019ve gotten the best responses from over the years. We\u2019ve got a great set we\u2019re gonna be bringing to Australia playing all the fan favourites from our first record to our latest record.<\/p>\n

So for those that haven\u2019t seen you before how would you best describe a typical Trapt show like?<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s high energy, a lot of melodies, a lot of lyrics that touch on deep subjects and truly being yourself and all that good stuff and it\u2019s just a place to release emotions and deal with all the negative stuff going on in your life and celebrating all the good stuff you\u2019ve got going on in your life, and that\u2019s what our shows are all about. I\u2019ll say it\u2019s a big release you know, release of tension and just taking the power back in your own life.<\/p>\n

A song like \u2018Headstrong\u2019 still stands out to this day in my opinion, what do you think it is about that song that people just connected and still connect with? <\/strong>
\nI just think it\u2019s the power of the song and what the song told about being who you are, it\u2019s a song about saying and doing what you want to do in your heart of hearts and not apologizing for that and I think that just resonates with people and not to mention it\u2019s a catchy song and it\u2019s got some energy to it so that doesn\u2019t hurt. I think that\u2019s basically what it is, a call to arms to just be yourself and not apologize for it.<\/p>\n

Still out there making music and you released \u2018DNA\u2019 last year, how does making music today differ looking back to when you made your debut back in 1999?\u00a0 <\/strong>
\nYou know you have such quicker access to your fans, you don\u2019t need a major label behind you pushing you out on their radio infrastructure or connections they have in the industry and that sort of stuff, so you can come out there and be more independent these days which is great, but at the same time there\u2019s a lot more stuff out there that people are hearing so stuff can get lost in the shuffle but we were fortunate enough to have a label behind us at the beginning to give us a big push and then from there we were able to get a lot of fans and a lot of keep doing what we do and not needed a big label system to keep putting records out. So they support us and we keep doing our thing, so I think just being able to keep in close contact with your fans I think is the biggest difference from now until fifteen years or so ago.<\/p>\n

Other side of that, what\u2019s the one thing you feel has stayed the same in your time together?<\/strong>
\nOh just the intensity of our shows and the relationship we have with our fans, that stuff will never change.<\/p>\n

Obviously coming to Australia for the first time is awesome, but are there any other territories you\u2019re heading to or wanting to that you haven\u2019t yet had the chance to?<\/strong>
\nSouth America we definitely want to get down there, Mexico, I think China would be great too.<\/p>\n

What does the remainder of 2017 have in store for Trapt?<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ve got \u2018Make America Rock\u2019 that\u2019s the second year we\u2019re doing that one and got a bunch of bands on that we\u2019re doing that in The States for two and half months, then we\u2019re probably just gonna chill out and figure out what we\u2019re gonna do next year. We\u2019ll do that summer then we\u2019re gonna end the year about the middle of October and start writing for a new record I think.<\/p>\n

Lastly let\u2019s look ahead to the future, finish this sentence for me, by the end of 2017 Trapt want to\u2026<\/strong>
