Six years since their last Australian tour, seminal rockers PIXIES <\/strong>return to Australia in March 2017 as part of their Head Carrier<\/em> world tour.<\/p>\n

One of the most influential and important bands over the last 30 years, Pixies headlined 2007’s inaugural Australian V Festival and in 2010 played an incredible 13 shows on their sold-out Doolittle<\/em> tour across the country.<\/p>\n

Pixies will kick off their 2017 Australian tour at Brisbane’s Riverstage on March 2, followed by Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on March 4 and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on March 7.<\/p>\n

Tickets for all shows will go on sale at 10am Friday, September 2.<\/p>\n

Touring the east coast in celebration of their forthcoming album, Head Carrier<\/em>, the tour sees vocalist\/guitarist Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago welcome bassist Paz Lenchatin to the Pixies’ permanent line-up.<\/p>\n

Lenchantin has been the band’s touring bassist since January 2014\u00a0and played an integral part in the recording of Head Carrier<\/em> (out September 30 through Pixiesmusic\/Play It Again Sam). Her cool and dreamy soprano can be heard singing lead on the track ‘All I Think About Now’.<\/p>\n

“Paz is a joy to be around,” said Lovering. “She’s very funny, and we’re having more fun than we’ve ever had as a band, we all have a blast together, on and off stage.”<\/p>\n

Set lists from recent UK shows have soared between the old and new, from their 1987 debut to tracks from the forthcoming album. The Telegraph<\/em> exclaiming “Pixies pummel the Brixton Academy with songs of visceral brilliance,” and The Independent<\/em> stating “Their job here was done, and done wonderfully.”<\/p>\n
