In just the last six months the intrepid, ever passionate quartet have nailed a wall to wall sold out out national single tour, seen two new singles scoop up triple j, community radio and media adoration alike, and brought their most energetic performances to The Hills Are Alive, Party in the Paddock and NYE on the Hill Festivals. Heck, they even found time to book and host their own music festival<\/a> and tee up a split release\u00a0with the UK\u2019s Apologies\u00a0I Have None. Luca Brasi are the archetype of a band on the up and up, and they\u2019re taking it all in their stride with customary charm and ease.<\/p>\n

The next feel-good gem from the record is build-then-burst new single\u00a0\u2018Anything Near Conviction\u2019<\/em>, which has just premiered on triple j’s lunch.\u00a0\u00a0Frontman Tyler Richardson describes this tune as\u00a0\u201cThe song that centres around giving yourself a kick in the arse to do better in life and for those you love. A not-so-gentle reminder that you gotta give everything you can.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

LISTEN TO ‘ANYTHING NEAR CONVICTION’ HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

If preceding LP\u2019s Extended Family<\/em> and By A Thread<\/em> sound like a young band experimenting excitingly with the elements of punk rock, \u2018If This Is All We\u2019re Going To Be\u2019<\/em> sees the band nail their unique, cracking formula.\u00a0They’ve perfectly married\u00a0melody, their trademark meandering guitar lines, big drum sounds and self-examining lyrical content with the foundational punk and rock ideals that inspired the band. It is cohesive, powerful and\u00a0moving, packing\u00a0a dynamism no better reflected in the contrast of first two singles \u2018Aeroplane\u2019<\/a> and \u2018Cascade Blues\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘If This Is All We’re Going To Be’<\/em>\u00a0was written over a couple of years amidst\u00a0a demanding touring schedule\u00a0and a period where the band were living in different parts of Tasmania. Keeping things close to home (as always), the band recorded at Red Planet in Hobart with Adelaide producer Jimmy Balderston, with US producer Brian McTernan (Hot Water Music, Circa Survive, Converge) taking the mixing helm. The result is bright but punchy, a no-frills good time that deftly\u00a0challenges mid-twenties thought processes and hometown mentalities.<\/p>\n
