NEW ALBUM ‘DESOLATION SOUNDS’ SET FOR RELEASE THROUGH COOKING VINYL AUSTRALIA ON\u00a0APRIL 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iconic British punk band Gallows are proud to announce the release of their new album \u2018Desolation Sounds\u2019, through their own label Venn and Cooking Vinyl Australia on April 10.
\n<\/strong>
\n\u2018Desolation Sounds\u2019 is Gallows album number four. Titled after an expanse of water in frontman Wade MacNeil\u2019s native Canada, it features ten songs, runs for 36 minutes and might just be the most bleakly beautiful, weighty and affecting collection of music you will hear this year.<\/p>\n

The album represents a new chapter in Gallows career as they move towards their tenth anniversary. Co-produced by Steve Sears at Titan Studios, Watford, it\u2019s a body of work which builds upon the aggression and passion of the band\u2019s acclaimed catalogue while opening up new horizons for the quartet. It is, says Gallows founding member Laurent \u2018Lags\u2019 Barnard, \u201cthe record I\u2019ve dreamt about making.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the album sounds really fearless,<\/em>\u201d the guitarist continues. \u201cIt’s the sound of a band that’s comfortable with playing music together, rather than trying to fit into a certain scene or zeitgeist or any preconceived notion of what the band should be. We just ignored the outside music world and made an album that felt good in our guts.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Prior to the album\u2019s release the band will issue a new single \u2018Bonfire Season\u2019 as a digital download and 7\u201d vinyl. Dark and foreboding, it finds Gallows wading into murkier waters.<\/p>\n

\u201cBonfire Season began as an ode to the amazing Siouxsie and the Banshees<\/em>,\u201d explains Laurent. \u201cI’ve always been a fan of that slightly gothic, dark style of punk and felt it was the time for Gallows to explore that style of music. The verses still have that old school boot stomp feel but combined with atmospheric noises providing menacing undertones.<\/em>\u00a0\u201c<\/p>\n

With a video shot by Canadian director and musician Josh Reichmann, his dark and foreboding film style perfectly suits the song\u2019s menacing and heavy vibes, as previously showcased on the band\u2019s video for the track \u2018Chains\u2019 in 2014 which Reichmann also created.<\/p>\n
