The beloved multiple-JUNO nominated hardcore-punk-metal band will release their highly anticipated fifth studio LP titled\u00a0Searching for Zero\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>on\u00a0March 13th, 2015\u00a0<\/strong>on their own imprint, Noise Church Records. \n\"\"<\/a>Produced by legendary multi-platinum producer\u00a0Ross Robinson<\/strong>\u00a0(At The Drive-In, Slipknot, The Cure, Sepultura, glassjaw)\u00a0Searching For Zero<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>is simultaneously the most melodic, yet menacing Cancer Bats release. The record incorporates the crude hardcore punk of their 2006 debut,\u00a0Birthing The Giant<\/em>\u00a0and more metal leanings of 2008\u2019s\u00a0Hail Destroyer,<\/em>\u00a0while pushing the heavy hybrid sounds of 2010\u2019s\u00a0Mayors Bears Scraps and Bones<\/em>\u00a0and 2012\u2019s darker\u00a0Dead Set On Living<\/em>\u00a0to a new plateau. The choruses are hookier, the screams more savage, the riffs more vicious, the songs more powerful. This is Cancer Bats at their pinnacle \u2013 their \u201cTrue Zero.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspired by both Robinson and their metal idols Black Sabbath, whom they cover extensively under their alter ego,\u00a0Bat Sabbath<\/strong>, the 10 songs that make up\u00a0Searching for Zero<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0boast a more raw and organic tonal signature than any previous Bats release. Robinson brought a bare-bones aural aesthetic to the material, capturing a sound that unites the thrashy metal-tinged hardcore of the bands previous releases with a meaty lo-fi intensity, found only in their live shows amongst the sweaty masses. The melodic elements both musically and vocally were inspired by the bands love and admiration of Black Sabbath.\u00a0\u201cIn learning all those Sabbath songs, I ended up having to figure out how to really sing,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0laughs lead vocalist Liam Cormier. \u201cIn the studio Ross was the one really pushing me to use that new voice I had discovered.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Since first turning heads in 2006 with the release of their critically acclaimed debut, Cancer Bats, made up of\u00a0Cormier,\u00a0<\/strong>guitarist\u00a0Scott Middleton,\u00a0<\/strong>drummer\u00a0Mike Peters\u00a0<\/strong>and bassistJaye Schwarzer<\/strong>, have arduously and unrelentingly toured across the globe, averaging 300 shows a year in both 2011 and 2012 alone. Truly one of the hardest working bands in rock, Cancer Bats have graced the covers and pages of countless tastemaking publications including Kerrang!, Exclaim!, Revolver, and Rock Sound and have been nominated for numerous awards from the Canadian JUNO\u2019s to Metal Hammer\u2019s Golden God Awards.<\/p>\n
