\"\"<\/a>Former\u00a0My Chemical Romance<\/a>\u00a0frontman\u00a0Gerard Way<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>will release his debut solo album, entitled\u00a0Hesitant Alien<\/em>, on September 26th<\/sup>\u00a0via Warner Bros. Records.<\/strong>\u00a0 The first track from the new album –\u00a0Action Cat<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0has already been doing the rounds with another\u00a0No Shows<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0expected mid-August.<\/p>\n

Working with producer\u00a0Doug McKean<\/strong>, Way knew immediately what he wanted\u00a0Hesitant Alien<\/em>\u00a0to sound like.\u00a0\u201cI wanted to make the small things sound big,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he says.\u00a0\u201cMy intention was to make 100 percent uncompromised art, using the currently least radio-friendly instrument, the guitar. I knew there would be lots of fuzz pedals. I knew I would play Fender instruments. I knew I would look at who my guitar heroes were in art school, Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein, and I drew a lot of influence from shoe-gaze and Britpop. I want the record to sonically galvanize people.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Hesitant Alien<\/em>\u00a0was mixed by Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys).<\/p>\n

Lyrically, Way wrote about what he knew at the time,\u00a0\u201cwhich was struggle, beginnings, finding a newness in the mundane and the abstract,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he says.\u00a0\u201cI looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon everyday life. I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black’s work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Way performs his first solo shows at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England at Reading on August 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0and at Leeds on August 23rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
