\"\"<\/a>JOE SATRIANI<\/strong>\u00a0has been an unstoppable force on the music scene for more than 27 years.<\/p>\n

Acclaimed around the world as one of the most technically accomplished and respected guitarists in rock music, the Australasian leg of his mammoth world tour brings the guitar professor back for his first headline shows since 2008.<\/p>\n

The tour, which is in support of Satriani’s most recent and 14th<\/sup>\u00a0studio album,\u00a0Unstoppable Momentum<\/em>, begins with two shows in New Zealand before travelling across Australia for a five-city tour commencing at The Tivoli, Brisbane, on November 4.<\/p>\n

Joining Satriani on the road are veteran band mate Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai) on keyboards, plus bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Dweezil Zappa) and drummer Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Steve Wilson).<\/p>\n

It is an often told story that the Long-Island-bred, San Francisco-dwelling Joe \u2018Satch\u2019 Satriani started out as a guitar teacher, grooming the skills of all-star pupils such as Metallica\u2019s Kirk Hammet, Primus\u2019 Larry LaLonde, Testament\u2019s Alex Skolnick, Counting Crows\u2019 David Bryson, as well as modern day peer, guitar wizard Steve Vai.<\/p>\n

Embarking on his recording career, Satriani\u2019s 1986 full-length debut\u00a0Not of this Earth<\/em>\u00a0was followed in 1987 by his breakthrough album, the seminal\u00a0Surfing With The Alien<\/em>. The album was the first instrumental guitar album to break into the US Top 40 and 26 years on, the album still remains the measuring stick by which all instrumental rock guitar records are still considered.<\/p>\n

Satriani quickly established his reputation as one of rock\u2019s most talented guitarists and has repeatedly been voted \u201dbest guitarist\u201d in leading guitar magazine readers\u2019 polls. An undisputed master of modern rock guitar he has gone on to sell more than ten million albums worldwide, earn numerous accolades including 14 Grammy nominations, as well as developing his own guitar line with Ibanez.<\/p>\n

Satch\u2019s previous visit to Australia was as one-third the guitar-heaven supergroup G3, which he co-founded with Steve Vai, the group touring here in 2012 with fellow (Toto) axeman Steve Lukather.<\/p>\n
