The six song EP is the first in a series of four EP\u2019s planned for release over the next year.\u00a0DOWN<\/strong>, which includes Philip Anselmo\u00a0(Pantera)<\/em>\u00a0on vocals, Pepper Keenan\u00a0(C.O.C.)<\/em>\u00a0on lead guitars, Kirk Windstein\u00a0(Crowbar)<\/em>\u00a0on guitar, Jimmy Bowery\u00a0(Eye Hate God)<\/em>\u00a0on drums, and Pat Brudners\u00a0(Crowbar),\u00a0<\/em>the newest addition to the line-up, on bass.<\/p>\n

Self-produced and recorded at Nodfertu\u2019s Lair, located at Anselmo\u2019s New Orleans home,\u00a0Down IV Part I \u2013 The Purple EP<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is undeniably the product of the iconic collective that is\u00a0DOWN<\/strong>,\u00a0whose members origins span from Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, and Eyehategod.\u00a0 Staggering riffs, thunderous drums, and Anselmo’s inimitable delivery crush and captivate over the course of the collection’s six songs. It’s dark. It’s dangerous. It’s decisive. It’s\u00a0DOWN<\/strong>\u00a0at their best.<\/p>\n

“I do believe that we have delivered a record that will be accepted and hopefully enjoyed by the DOWN<\/strong> horde\u2014if you will,\u201d says Anselmo. \u201cIf you’re looking for a DOWN<\/strong> record, it’s very pure and real.”<\/p>\n

Lyrically, the EP goes beyond just personal experiences, and explores themes that include the faith of mankind, the imperfection of mankind and cultural belief systems.<\/p>\n

“DOWN<\/strong> gives me the platform to be poetic and paint imagery with lyrics,\u201d says Anselmo. \u201cThat’s the approach I took. They complement the music and create an ominous feeling. Ultimately, when people consume the words, it’s always their interpretation that matters. I could be image-conscious though when I wrote. It’s not so gut level or street. The darker shit is some of my favorite.”<\/p>\n

With an album sales history totaling over 725k, these New Orleans natives are no strangers to success.\u00a0 Their legendary 1995 debut Nola<\/em> is certified platinum, while Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow <\/em>[2002] and Down III <\/em>[2007] remain fan and critical successes. Count on The Purple EP<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>to garner similar achievements!<\/p>\n
