\"\"<\/a>In Summary:\u00a0 “Will The Offspring ever change the world with their music?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Is this album something that should be enjoyed by as many as possible though?\u00a0 Hell yes.”<\/p>\n

I remember hearing The Offspring for the first time in 1994 when they asked us to \u2018Come Out And Play\u2019 and we had to \u2018keep them separated\u2026 \u2018and from there they\u2019ve managed to stand the test of time, giving us hits along their career, proving they\u2019re pretty fly for a pack of white guys.\u00a0 The main reason I\u2019m here, other than to throw in quotes or song titles is to talk about The Offspring\u2019s new album \u2018Days Go By.\u2019 Now, The Offspring aren\u2019t everyone\u2019s kettle of fish and it\u2019s fair to say have become somewhat of a novelty band, but they do have some great pop punk rock songs outside of the those that have helped them forge their career, so let\u2019s see how the balance is on this new release\u2026<\/p>\n

With once again with legendary rock producer Bob Rock, yes, that Bob Rock who has worked with bands such as Bon Jovi, Metallica, Motley Crue and many more, should be able to put a great spin on the new album as he did on their 2008 album \u2018Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.\u2019\u00a0 Always loving what Bob does, let\u2019s listen and see what we\u2019re in for.<\/p>\n

Off to a strong start with \u2018The Future Is Now\u2019 I love the vibe they\u2019ve set up, it\u2019s a straight forward rocker with a nice catchy little chorus, although there is no doubt at all its Dexter singing, his vocals are so unique that you instantly know it\u2019s an Offspring track.\u00a0 They waste no time with \u2018Secrets From The Underground\u2019 again, rockin\u2019 as they come, well as rockin\u2019 as The Offspring come anyway.\u00a0 I like this one, complete with guitar solo, I mean, seriously, I keep saying it but it\u2019s the way to my heart.\u00a0 The breakdown here is well done and this would be frantic to hear live!\u00a0 Title track \u2018Days Go By\u2019 is up next and I can\u2019t help but get that Foo Fighters\u2019 Times Like These\u2019 vibe from it but in a complimentary way, the riff just hits that same groove and the song has that great middle of the road rock feel.\u00a0 I am enjoying this album so far, I was hesitant, but here we are three in and it\u2019s pretty damn good!<\/p>\n

Again\u2026 this is rockin\u2019 am I sure I\u2019m hearing the same band that gave us these novelty type tracks previously?\u00a0 \u2018Turning Into You\u2019 is awesome, I know that\u2019s a general word, but it is.\u00a0 I know bands that would love to write a song like this, nice work guys, I\u2019m already singing along second chorus in, good sign.\u00a0 I can hear this on the radio, it would work. \u2018Hurting as One\u2019 takes on more of that speedy punk vibe in the song but with a great musical vibe to it.\u00a0 Not to mention the trademark \u2018oh oh oh oh oh\u2019s\u2019 you all know from previous works of these guys.<\/p>\n

Oh, here it is\u2026 the curveball. \u2018Cruising California (Bumpin\u2019 In My Trunk)\u2019 this is happy, I like this, it sounds NOTHING like the last five songs at all, where did this come from?\u00a0 I want to not like this, but I can\u2019t.\u00a0 Dexter half raps \/ talks through the verses and he can do it, not many can.\u00a0 Builds in to a big chorus, but as I giggle along to it and it\u2019s cute little keyboard and autotuned \u2018California\u2019 reference, you can see this as one of those Offspring songs that they\u2019re known for.\u00a0 This has divided fans, but I dig it. \u00a0\u2018All I have Left Is You\u2019 is another stand out here, starts off slow in the verses and gives us a big chorus each time, I love that formula of a track and this works.\u00a0 I mentioned Bob Rock before and you can hear his influence on the sound, particularly in this track, it sounds great.\u00a0 In fact this is my new favourite on the album.\u00a0 Try and top it next five songs\u2026 I dare ya!<\/p>\n

\u2018OC Guns\u2019 hmm\u2026 this just does not work for me, I don\u2019t understand it, is it Mexican?\u00a0 Yeah I\u2019m not digging this one, skip it, this to me doesn\u2019t fit the feel of the album at all, but maybe that\u2019s their ploy and their ability to throw in these filler tracks.\u00a0 I can\u2019t see this one redeeming itself.\u00a0 Next.\u00a0 See, now this is how you do it, \u2018Dirty Magic\u2019 has a dark intro reminiscent of a \u2018H.I.M.\u2019 track, and I love it, the complete and utter contrast to the last song is amazing.\u00a0 Oh yeah, you\u2019re forgiven for the last track, this rocks!\u00a0 More guitar solos = happy Troy.\u00a0 Listen to this one twice instead of the last one at all.\u00a0 OK, well the title of the next one is fun, namely \u2018I Wanna Secret Family (With You)\u2019 and lyrically as silly as you\u2019d think it would be, but musically, great!\u00a0 Again, they can get away with it, when you\u2019ve been writing songs for so long and songs like this, you have it down. Back to the frantic punk sound with \u2018Dividing By Zero\u2019 is second to last and as good as it is, I\u2019m looking forward to hearing the last track with the longest name ever, \u2018Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell\u2019 I\u2019m pretty sure if they just sang the title that it\u2019d hit the 3:30 radio single time limit, but what it is is actually kick ass.\u00a0 This song actually sounds like the best parts of all the previous Offspring hits have been taken and merged into this, I like it.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad the album ended this way, and what a great way to finish it with such a high energy closer!<\/p>\n

Regardless of what you think of The Offspring, you may see them as the \u2018Pretty Fly For A White Guy\u2019 band or any of those hits they had, but pick up this album and skip those and you have one solid pop punk rock album, I love what I just played, bar a few tracks, but they serve their purpose.\u00a0 This will get spun for many more days that will go by.\u00a0 Yeah, I just did that.\u00a0 Will The Offspring ever change the world with their music?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Is this album something that should be enjoyed by as many as possible though?\u00a0 Hell yes.\u00a0 Hey Ho, Let\u2019s Go\u2026<\/p>\n
